What’s actually slowing this PC down?

No. Rockstar does not support transferring a GTA Online profile or progress from PS4 to PC. Linking your PlayStation Network account to a Rockstar Games account—or buying GTA 5 for PC—does not move your character, level, money, or other progress. Rockstar’s current transfer policy explicitly excludes migration from PlayStation or Xbox console families to PC.
Why a PS4 GTA Online profile cannot move to PC
Rockstar’s character-transfer policy permits certain migrations between console generations, but not from a PlayStation or Xbox console family to PC. Its migration instructions state that progress cannot be migrated between PS4 or Xbox One and PC.
A Rockstar Games account link is not a cross-platform transfer. Rockstar says console Story Mode and Online progress is linked to the PSN ID or Xbox Gamertag. Signing into the same Rockstar account on PC therefore does not bring the PS4 character across.
What transfers are supported
| Starting platform | Destination | What Rockstar supports |
|---|---|---|
| PS4 | PS5 | Eligible Story Mode and GTA Online progress can be migrated under Rockstar’s console migration process. |
| Xbox One | Xbox Series X|S | Eligible Story Mode and GTA Online progress can be migrated under Rockstar’s console migration process. |
| PS4 or Xbox One | PC | Not supported. |
| PS5 | Xbox Series X|S, or the reverse | Not supported between console families. |
| GTAV Legacy on PC | GTAV Enhanced on PC | A separate PC-to-PC profile migration is documented; it does not transfer a console character. |
For supported PS4-to-PS5 or Xbox One-to-Series X|S migration, Rockstar directs players to the GTA Online Landing Page or the Pause Menu after signing into Rockstar Games on the destination console. Eligibility conditions apply: Rockstar identifies suspended or banned profiles and profiles with illegitimate or insufficient progress as possible exclusions. After migration, progress on the old and new console generations does not sync. These conditions apply to console migration only; they do not create a PC route.

Rockstar warns that changing the linked account can result in losing console progress. Before unlinking a PSN ID or connecting a different one, check which PlayStation account owns the character. If you are uncertain, contact Rockstar Support before changing the link.

Buying GTA 5 for PC may let you play on PC, but it will not carry over the PS4 profile. Rockstar’s Launcher policy also says game entitlements are tied to the account that purchased the title and are non-transferable. That purchase rule is separate from, and does not alter, the platform migration policy.

What to do instead
- Want to keep playing your existing character on PC? There is no Rockstar-supported PS4-to-PC migration method. Account linking, purchasing the PC edition, and contacting support do not provide a transfer route.
- Want to continue on a newer PlayStation? Use Rockstar’s PS4-to-PS5 migration instructions and review their eligibility conditions before starting.
- Unsure which PSN ID is linked? Verify the connected account and ask Rockstar Support before unlinking or replacing it.
- Your profile is suspended, banned, or appears ineligible? Contact Rockstar Support for account-specific help; public migration guidance cannot determine an individual account’s status.
