What you need to play
The game supports a Wii Remote on its own or a Wii Remote with a Nunchuk. In the manufacturer description, the Remote acts as the rod and the Nunchuk as the reel. The Japanese Nintendo listing describes a one-player fishing game released on February 28, 2008. Because regional releases and naming can differ, use the prompts and manual for your own copy if its instructions vary. Nintendo’s official Wii software listing

How to cast, hook, and reel
- Choose a location and lure. Pick a stage and lure before casting. Nintendo describes 15 stages and more than 30 lure variations, with conditions that change according to climate and terrain. Consider the conditions shown in your game when choosing.
- Cast. Hold the Wii Remote like a fishing rod and make a forward casting motion. The listed SEGA Bass Fishing Wii instruction manual describes this motion.
- Work the lure. Use the Nunchuk analog stick or the Remote movement indicated by the game to manipulate and reel the lure. Follow the on-screen prompt; do not assume the same movement applies in every situation.
- Set the hook. When a fish bites, pull the Wii Remote back promptly, as the manual listing instructs.
- Fight and land the fish. Reel while watching the line-tension gauge. The manual listing warns that excessive tension can break the line, while too little can allow the fish to escape. Adjust your reeling and movements to keep tension under control.
Use the prompts for your version
The step-by-step inputs above come from a third-party listing of the game’s manual, while Nintendo’s official Japanese product page confirms the supported controller setups and describes the rod-and-reel concept. If your copy gives a different prompt or motion, follow the game’s on-screen instruction or the manual for that regional release.
Do not confuse these instructions with the separate Wii title Bass Fishing Wii~ロクマル伝説~. Arc System Works’ control page for that related game describes overhead and side-hand casting motions, but those exact casting options are not established for Sega Bass Fishing.
