If your health drops to half when you enter a castle or ruin in the Forsaken Hollows expansion’s Great Hollow event, you are likely affected by the crystal curse. Resonate four large blue crystals, then interact with the broken great crystal at the center of the map to claim its power and remove the effect. This solution is reported by PC Gamer’s Great Hollow guide, published December 4, 2025.
How to remove the Great Hollow half-health curse
- Confirm the trigger. This remedy applies when you are on the Great Hollow map during its Shifting Earth event and your HP is reduced upon entering a large castle or ruin. A health loss after taking damage is a different situation.
- Find large blue crystals. Search the map for crystals you can interact with. PC Gamer reports that there are usually eight available, but that is not a guaranteed count.
- Resonate four crystals. Approach each one and choose “Resonate.” The guide says the great crystal in the map’s center visibly cracks as crystals are destroyed.
- Claim the central crystal’s power. After resonating four, travel to the broken great crystal at the center and interact with it. PC Gamer reports that this clears the half-HP curse and grants a buff.
The guide says crystals can be found on day one and that any remaining crystals are marked on the map at the start of day two. Break any you find early and finish the task on day two if necessary. Crystal positions are not established as fixed across runs, so use the map markers rather than relying on a memorized location.

Why this effect is easy to mistake for ordinary damage
The key clue is the trigger: the reported curse cuts HP when you enter a large stronghold in Great Hollow. It is not the same as being hit, and it is not Near-Death, which begins when HP reaches zero. The Great Hollow cure is documented by PC Gamer; the official guide and manual support the distinctions around Near-Death and normal healing, but do not independently confirm the crystal-cure procedure.
