To unlock the Cheshire Cat as a villager in Disney Dreamlight Valley, complete the Alice in Wonderland realm story and welcome Alice to the Valley, then finish Mannequin Madness, Chaos in the Kitchen, and the final quest, Cat Tree Catastrophe. The last quest has you catch five Cheshire Catfish and place the Cheshire Cat’s mini tree in the Valley.
1. Complete the Alice in Wonderland realm story
Enter the Alice in Wonderland Realm through the Dream Castle and finish its five story quests in order: Wonders of Wonderland, The Queen’s Maze, Teeny, Tiny Problems, and Leaving Wonderland, along with the other realm quest in the chain. Complete the steps to welcome Alice to the Valley; simply visiting the realm does not unlock the Cheshire Cat’s questline. 2. Finish Mannequin Madness at Scrooge’s shop
Once Alice is in the Valley, go into Scrooge McDuck’s shop to start Mannequin Madness. Investigate the mannequins and the mess with Scrooge and Alice, then complete the quest. This is the first of the two intermediate quests before the Cat’s recruitment quest.
3. Finish Chaos in the Kitchen at Chez Remy
After Mannequin Madness, go to Chez Remy to begin Chaos in the Kitchen. Clean up the paw messes, prepare Cheshire Cat Tail, give it to Remy, deal with the additional mess, and speak with the Cheshire Cat to complete the quest.

4. Complete Cat Tree Catastrophe
Cat Tree Catastrophe is the final recruitment quest. Follow its clues in order; the walkthrough from Dexerto is dated February 19, 2026.

- Follow Moana’s lead. Go to her boat and photograph the strange fish.
- Catch five Cheshire Catfish. Fish at Dazzle Beach in the special colored ocean ripples. Guides describe the ripple color as either golden or orange, so use the quest’s in-game visual marker if the wording or appearance differs in your game.
- Find the tree clue at Alice’s house. Visit Alice’s house and photograph the clue to the Cheshire Cat’s mini tree.
- Place the tree in the Valley. Put the resulting Cheshire Cat tree somewhere in the Valley, then speak with the Cheshire Cat at the placed tree to complete the quest and recruit him.
How to tell whether the Cheshire Cat is unlocked
The tree placement and conversation with the Cheshire Cat complete the unlock. One walkthrough notes that the Cheshire Cat does not use the standard Wishing Well welcome cutscene, so the absence of that cutscene alone does not mean recruitment failed. Check that you placed the tree and finished the interaction at it.
