To unlock the base Summoner Archetype in Metaphor: ReFantazio, complete the Obtain Drakodios dungeon on Virga Island, finish Eupha’s side quest, “The Trial of Malnova,” and start her follower bond. Summoner becomes available to study at bond rank 1. Devil Summoner is a separate, later upgrade with additional bond and Archetype-rank requirements.
Unlock base Summoner through Eupha’s quest
- Reach Virga Island and complete Obtain Drakodios. This story milestone opens the route to Eupha’s bond quest, according to PC Gamer and Game8.
- Take and complete “The Trial of Malnova.” Speak with Eupha to begin the side quest. Completing it starts her follower bond.
- Reach Eupha’s first bond rank. At rank 1, the Summoner lineage becomes available to study.
Study Summoner with the intended character
Availability does not automatically teach Summoner to every party member. Studying Archetypes costs MAG, and the character learning an Archetype must meet its listed rank prerequisites themselves. GameSpot lists Summoner’s prerequisites as Seeker rank 15 and Faker rank 10; its guide says both are unlocked by default for Eupha. Check the intended learner’s Archetype ranks before spending MAG. Devil Summoner is a separate upgrade
Unlocking base Summoner does not unlock Devil Summoner. For the advanced branch, meet all of these requirements:
- Eupha’s follower bond at rank 6.
- Summoner rank 20 on the character who will learn Devil Summoner.
- Magic Seeker rank 10 on that same character.
These later requirements are reported by GameSpot and PC Gamer. Eupha’s bond rank unlocks access to the branch; the required Archetype ranks still belong to the learner.

How Summoner abilities and upgrades work
Summoner attacks use Vessels, which enable summon abilities and do not need to be equipped. You can use the Vessels crafted by that point in the game. The lineage’s upgrades are handled through More’s experiments and are permanent, rather than gear you have to wear, according to PC Gamer and GameSpot.
Do not confuse Vessels with Masked Dancer masks. Masks are equipment that provide abilities from another Archetype tree; Summoner Vessels provide summons without being equipped, as GameSpot explains.
