You can’t legitimately join someone else’s Roblox private server without the owner’s authorization or the access settings they have chosen. Ask the owner to invite your account, add you to the server, or enable access for friends. If you already have permission but see Error Code 524, troubleshoot your access settings and the server connection instead of trying to bypass the restriction.
What “without permission” means on Roblox
A Roblox private server is controlled by its owner. The owner can choose specific accounts, allow friends, set access restrictions, or share a server link. A link by itself does not mean the owner has authorized everyone who receives or finds it. Roblox’s Private / VIP Servers FAQ explains these options.
If you are not on the allowed list and the owner has not enabled an access option that includes you, there is no legitimate workaround. Roblox’s Terms of Use prohibit attempting to gain unauthorized access to the service or connected systems.
How to get access legitimately
- Ask the server owner. Request an invite or ask whether they can add your Roblox account to the server’s allowed users.
- Ask whether friends access is enabled. If the owner allows their friends to join, make sure you are connected to the right Roblox account and ask the owner to confirm the server’s current settings.
- Confirm the invite link is current. The owner can create a server link, but should confirm that the link and its access settings are still valid.
- Wait for approval if access depends on a Community. Communities are a separate Roblox feature and may require manual membership approval. Community membership alone should not be assumed to grant private-server access; the server owner’s settings still determine who can join. See Roblox’s Community joining guidance.
Fix Error Code 524 if you should already be allowed in
Roblox describes Error Code 524 as “You do not have permission to join this game.” It usually points to an access restriction, but Roblox also lists account privacy settings, server availability, and network or device problems as possible causes. Start by confirming authorization with the owner; change settings or troubleshoot your connection only if your account should already be allowed.

1. Confirm the server’s access settings
Ask the owner to check whether your account is on the permitted-user list, whether friends access is enabled, and whether the invite link is current. Roblox’s Error Code 524 support page identifies permission restrictions as a common cause.
2. Review your own private-server privacy setting
In Roblox, open Settings → Privacy & content restrictions → Visibility & private servers → Private servers. Check who can add your account to private servers. Roblox notes that available visibility choices can vary by age and region; its Online Status and Visibility page explains the account controls. These settings affect your account’s privacy preferences; they do not override the owner’s access rules.

Roblox’s current private-server FAQ says accounts under 13 are limited by default to friends’ private servers, and their privacy settings may further restrict access. If that applies to your account, use the permitted options and ask the owner for help rather than trying to bypass age or privacy controls.
3. Check whether the server or connection is available
If the owner confirms access and your privacy settings are compatible, retry after checking whether the experience or server is available. Roblox also lists unstable internet, browser problems, and temporary device issues among possible Error Code 524 causes. You can try a stable connection, reopen Roblox, or retry from another supported browser or device. These checks can resolve a failed authorized join attempt; they cannot grant access to a server that has not authorized you.

What not to try
Do not use exploit scripts, modified clients, account sharing, or third-party “server joiner” services to get around a private server’s access settings. They do not provide legitimate authorization, may put your account or credentials at risk, and conflict with Roblox’s prohibition on attempts to gain unauthorized access.
