To beat Sister Splinter in Shellwood, dodge away from her glowing hand during the three-strike claw sequence, then attack in the pauses between strikes or after the sequence ends. Break thorny vines before they crowd the arena, and deal with Splinterbarks as soon as she summons them. Silk Spear can help clear both hazards and minions from range.
Where to find Sister Splinter and what the fight unlocks
Sister Splinter waits in northern Shellwood and blocks the main route to Cling Grip, the wall-jump ability. Defeating her clears the way forward toward that upgrade.
How to avoid the claw sequence
Watch Sister Splinter’s hands. When one glows, move to the opposite side to avoid the incoming downward claw strike. She follows with a three-strike sequence, so keep tracking her tell instead of committing to a long attack animation.
The safest openings are the short pauses between strikes and the recovery after the sequence. If you are still learning the timing, prioritize dodging and land a hit only when you have a clear opening.

How to handle vines and Splinterbarks
Break vines before they close off the arena
When thorny vines descend, destroy them as soon as it is safe. Accumulated hazards make it harder to move around the boss and avoid her attacks. A Needle hit takes three strikes to break a vine, according to the community wiki; some Silk Skills can clear them more quickly. Silk Spear is recommended for cutting through vines from range.
Clear Splinterbarks when they appear
In the later phase, Sister Splinter summons Splinterbarks and uses more extensive vine hazards. Deal with the minions before turning your attention back to the boss: a crowded arena leaves less room to dodge. Upward slashes can reach them, while Silk Spear and other ranged tools offer alternatives. Some of Sister Splinter’s own attacks can hit Splinterbarks, so use that opportunity if their positions make it safe.

Choosing attacks and managing Silk
You do not need one specific loadout to win. Choose an approach that lets you keep the arena manageable without spending so much Silk that you lose access to useful attacks:
- Silk Spear: A ranged option recommended for clearing vines and killing Splinterbarks, useful when approaching a hazard or minion would be risky.
- Upward slashes: An option against Splinterbarks when they are positioned above you.
- Straight Pin or Sting Shards: Ranged alternatives suggested for dealing with minions.
- Other Silk Skills: Some can clear vines quickly; weigh the faster cleanup against the Silk they consume.
During the summon scream, the community wiki identifies an attack opening. Take it only if you can do so without being caught by another attack or losing control of the arena.

Use stagger openings without touching the boss
A stagger is a safe opportunity to deal damage, but Sister Splinter can still cause contact damage while down. Attack from a position that keeps you clear of her body rather than moving into her.
