To reach Sands of Karak, travel through the Blasted Steps and use Clawline to climb west through the dust storm. The route is described from the Blasted Steps bench, while another guide frames the approach around the Great Conchflies and Pinstress’s balloon. The guides list different movement prerequisites, so follow the abilities required by the specific route you use.
Route from the Blasted Steps bench
PCGamesN’s walkthrough describes this route from the bench in the Blasted Steps. It lists Clawline, Glide, and Wall Jump for its path to Sands of Karak. [PCGamesN’s Sands of Karak guide]
- From the Blasted Steps bench, head right and drop into the pit.
- Use Glide to hug the left wall and reach the ledge.
- Travel west through the dust storm. Use Clawline to catch the hooks and climb via the ledges and walls.
- Continue past enemies and falling hazards, then cross the timed platforms. The guide describes reaching an object through a tight tunnel to open a further route.
Visibility is heavily obscured in the storm, so watch for hooks and ledges as you move. The walkthrough describes hazards along the way but does not establish a required combat build.
Approach using the Great Conchflies and Pinstress’s balloon
PC Gamer gives a progression-oriented set of landmarks rather than the bench-to-storm sequence: defeat the Great Conchflies in the Blasted Steps, climb to Pinstress’s balloon, then use Clawline to continue upward into Sands of Karak. Unlock the return shortcut
According to PC Gamer, breaking the red hanging drill in the main shaft opens a shortcut back to the Blasted Steps bench. Once you reach the shaft, look for the drill and break it to make the return route available.
