You can get Stitches in Animal Crossing: New Horizons without an amiibo: visit mystery islands with Nook Miles Tickets while you have an open plot, and invite him if he appears. For a targeted option, use a compatible Stitches amiibo card at the Nook Stop to invite him to your campsite, then keep inviting and talking with him on repeat visits until he agrees to move in.
Choose how you want to find Stitches
| Route | What you need | How much control you have | Main limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stitches amiibo card | A compatible card and access to the campsite invitation option at the Nook Stop | Targeted: you invite Stitches specifically | You need the physical card and must invite and interact with him on repeat visits. Current card price and stock are not established. |
| Mystery-island tour | Nook Miles Tickets and a suitable open plot | Random: you cannot select Stitches | Stitches is not guaranteed to appear, and an exact encounter probability is not established. |
Nintendo documents the amiibo procedure; reports from players support that Stitches has appeared on mystery islands, but do not establish official encounter odds. Nintendo’s amiibo instructions and community reports about finding Stitches are useful for those respective details.
Invite Stitches with an amiibo card
- Go to Resident Services and interact with the Nook Stop.
- Select “Invite a camper,” then scan the compatible Stitches amiibo card at the controller’s NFC touchpoint and follow the on-screen prompts.
- When Stitches visits the campsite, talk to him and complete the interaction the game requests.
- Invite him again on later visits and talk with him. Nintendo says amiibo characters need multiple campsite invitations and interaction before they can move in; its instructions do not specify a fixed number of visits.
This is the more targeted route because you choose Stitches rather than hoping he appears during a random tour. The card is optional, and its current retail price and availability are not established here.
Look for Stitches on mystery islands without an amiibo
- Make sure you have a suitable open plot for a villager.
- Use a Nook Miles Ticket to take a mystery-island tour.
- Check which villager is on the island. If it is Stitches, talk to him and invite him to move in.
- If another villager appears, you can try another ticket and tour.
Players report finding and recruiting Stitches this way, so an amiibo is not mandatory. However, each tour is a random encounter: repeated trips do not guarantee Stitches, and no verified current probability is established.

Can you get Stitches from another player’s island?
Another possible route is to visit a player whose Stitches is moving out and invite him to your island. This depends on finding a willing player and on Stitches being in the right move-out situation, so it is less predictable than using his amiibo card.
