Maple leaves are seasonal crafting materials, rather than a year-round item. Nintendo’s game overview describes the broader island activities, while the specific timing and catching details here are documented by Nookipedia’s maple leaf entry.
How to catch a floating maple leaf
- Play during the date window for your island’s hemisphere.
- Watch for maple leaves drifting through the air around your island.
- Equip your in-game net, move within reach of a floating leaf, and swing to catch it.
The leaf entry describes obtaining maple leaves by catching them while they float around the island. The net-catching action is the same basic tool use as catching other floating targets.

What to do if no leaves appear
Animal Crossing: New Horizons follows the real-time date and time set on the Nintendo Switch or Switch 2, and Nintendo says special events are tied to specific calendar dates. If you cannot find maple leaves:
- Check whether your island is in the Northern or Southern Hemisphere and use the matching dates above.
- Check the console’s date and time. Nintendo’s date and time support instructions explain how to verify or adjust those settings.
- Confirm that the console date falls within the listed window for your hemisphere.
The exact maple-leaf window is supported here by a community-maintained reference, not an official Nintendo calendar listing; Nintendo’s guidance establishes why the console clock matters, not the item’s specific dates.
