If you want to join FiveM community servers, the documented route is to use a Windows PC with a legitimate, fully updated PC copy of Grand Theft Auto V.
Why FiveM does not have a documented Xbox install
Cfx.re’s system requirements name Windows 8.1, Windows 10, and Windows 11, while its getting-started guide explains installation and setup on a PC. Those official instructions establish a Windows PC client route, not an Xbox client or console installation method. This is the basis for saying FiveM cannot be installed directly on Xbox; it is not a quoted Cfx.re statement that “Xbox is unsupported.”
Playing GTA Online on Xbox is not the same as accessing FiveM servers. A PC setup does not convert the Xbox game into a FiveM client, and Cfx.re’s published instructions do not document a console workaround. Be wary of claims promising an Xbox download, setting, or add-on as an official way to join FiveM.
How to play FiveM on a Windows PC
- Check the PC requirements. Cfx.re currently lists Windows 8.1, Windows 10, or Windows 11, along with minimum and recommended hardware below. Check its live requirements page before buying a PC; specifications are a baseline, not a guarantee of performance on every server or future client build.
- Get a legitimate PC copy of GTA V. Cfx.re’s purchase guidance lists common sources and warns that illegitimate copies will not work. Confirm the currently supported edition and retailer availability before purchasing.
- Update GTA V fully. FiveM requires a fully updated GTA V installation.
- Install FiveM on the PC. Follow Cfx.re’s getting-started instructions to install and set up the client.

Cfx.re notes that some older AMD laptop GPUs may not work. Meeting the listed minimum does not ensure that every server or later build will perform well.
