Join a private server you own or belong to

Open the Roblox experience you want to play in the Roblox app or on the website.

Scroll down to the Servers section.

Look under Private Servers for a server you created or are a member of.

Select the server to join. Roblox’s Private / VIP Servers FAQ says that if one appears in the list, “you can go ahead and play right away.”

If the private server is missing or you cannot join
Check that the experience offers private servers
Private servers are optional: the experience creator must enable them. If the feature is not enabled for that experience, you will not see the private-server option described above.
Confirm the owner has granted access
For a server owned by someone else, ask its owner to add your username to the server’s members or turn on Friends Allowed, if you qualify. Owners can also create a server link. A link does not override account privacy restrictions.

Review the private-server privacy setting
Roblox’s Error Code 524: You do not have permission to join this game help page gives this settings path: Settings → Privacy & content restrictions → Visibility & private servers → Private servers. Choose a preference that permits the access you are trying to use. The available choices can depend on account age and region.
Roblox says users under 13 can, by default, join only private servers created by friends, and only friends can join their own private servers. Users can make access more restrictive in privacy settings. For users aged 13 and up, Roblox also provides controls over who can add them to private servers. If a parent manages the account, look for the private-server controls under Settings → Parental Controls → Visibility & private servers; labels or available options may vary.

Allow time for a temporary outage, then troubleshoot
Error Code 524 can also appear when a server or experience is temporarily unavailable. Wait briefly and try again. If access and privacy settings look right, Roblox lists unstable network connections, browser problems, and temporary device glitches as other possibilities. Try restarting Roblox or your device, changing networks, checking whether the experience is available, and updating or reinstalling Roblox if needed.

For a failed private-server join, check the specific Private servers control in Roblox’s Error Code 524 instructions. The separate Online Status and Visibility settings control who can see when you are online and which experience you are playing; they are related privacy controls, but they are not a substitute for the private-server access setting.
