You can’t install external custom-content files or mods on The Sims 4 for Xbox. Instead, Xbox players can download approved community-made Maker Packs from the game’s official in-game Marketplace. They add creator-made content, but they are not the same as unrestricted CC files or gameplay mods.
What “CC” means on Xbox
Custom content (CC) usually means player-made items such as hairstyles, clothing, furniture, and build items. Mods can also change game features or functionality. EA says console versions do not support installing custom content or mods, and its mod-installation guidance is for PC and Mac players.

That does not mean Xbox has no community-made content: EA launched its official Marketplace on Xbox and PlayStation on April 16, 2026. The Marketplace offers approved creator-made Maker Packs alongside official Sims packs. EA’s console support guide and mod-installation guide distinguish console support from PC and Mac modding.
How to get Maker Packs on Xbox
- Open The Sims 4 on your Xbox. Use the game’s in-game Marketplace; Maker Packs are browsed and downloaded there.
- Browse available Maker Packs. These are made by approved Sims Makers and are curated Marketplace content, not files downloaded from an outside website.
- Choose a pack and complete the Marketplace purchase. Marketplace content is purchased with Moola. Availability and pack contents are shown in the game’s storefront.
- Download the pack from the Marketplace and use its items in the game as the pack allows.

Maker Packs versus external CC and mods

Do not download .package files, create a Mods folder, or look for the PC/Mac custom-content toggle on Xbox. Those steps do not enable external CC on console. On PC or Mac, EA’s documented process involves downloading the mod, extracting an archive if needed, placing files in the Mods folder, enabling custom content and mods in Game Options, and relaunching the game. EA also says it does not pre-screen or endorse specific mods.
Marketplace storage on Xbox
In its April 16, 2026 update for console version 2.31, The Sims 4 team said Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Cloud have up to 50 GB of Marketplace storage, shared among Sims accounts on that console. This is a Marketplace storage allowance reported by EA, not a general Xbox storage specification.

Can cheats add CC or change building options?
Cheats do not install custom content or mods. They can, however, change some existing game behavior. EA’s console instructions say to press LT + RT + LB + RB together to open the cheat console, enter testingcheats on, and press A. Enabling testing cheats disables achievements for the current save.
For build-mode adjustments, EA lists cheats such as bb.moveobjects and bb.showhiddenobjects and treats build-mode cheats separately under its console achievement guidance. See EA’s The Sims 4 cheats FAQ for the current guidance.

What if you want unrestricted CC or gameplay mods?
You need to play on PC or Mac to use EA’s documented external-mod installation method. EA says the console version is separate and progress does not carry over from PC or Mac, so do not assume that a PC/Mac save or purchase will transfer to your Xbox game. The supported Xbox option for creator-made content is the in-game Marketplace.
