Get the ID for an image you are uploading
-
Open Roblox Studio and import the image using the Importer. Roblox lists PNG, JPG, GIF, TGA, and BMP as supported image formats in its Importer documentation.
-
When the image appears in the Importer, right-click it and choose Copy asset ID. Roblox documents this action as the way to copy an uploaded asset’s ID.
-
Paste the ID where you need it. For a property that accepts an asset URI, use the prefix
rbxassetid://followed by the numeric ID, such asrbxassetid://123456789.DriversCrashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?PerformancePC Slower Than It Used to Be?DriversOutdated Drivers Are Slowing You DownSpecial offer. Find the ID of an image already in your project
Select the object that uses the image and inspect the relevant property in Studio. Which property to check depends on how the image is used:
| Image use | Where to look |
|---|---|
| Image in a user interface | The Image property on an ImageLabel (or the corresponding image property on the UI object). Roblox documents that ImageLabel.Image accepts an uploaded image or decal asset ID/URI: ImageLabel reference. |
| Texture or decal on a part | The relevant texture or decal content property, such as ColorMapContent, depending on the object and workflow. See Roblox’s textures and decals guide. |
If a property shows an asset URI, the number after rbxassetid:// is the asset ID. Roblox assigns a unique asset ID when an image is imported, as described in its textures and decals documentation.

Make sure you have the image ID, not another ID
Roblox uses different IDs for different things. An image asset ID is not an experience ID, user ID, or thumbnail URL; use the identifier expected by the property you are setting. Roblox’s asset documentation explains the rbxassetid:// scheme and other asset references: Assets.
-
A file name is not an asset ID. The ID is assigned to the uploaded asset. The name-based
rbxgameasset://reference is a different format; Roblox describesrbxassetidas the reusable ID-based form for use across multiple games.Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.Rank #3

An imported model may have its own ID. The Importer’s Copy asset ID action copies the selected item’s ID. If you imported a model and need the image texture ID, locate the image asset or inspect the texture property rather than assuming the model ID is the image ID.
-
Some IDs are not immediately usable everywhere. Roblox assets are subject to moderation, and permissions or ownership can affect whether an asset can be used in an experience. Copying an ID does not guarantee it will load in every experience.

If the image does not appear
-
Check that you copied the image asset’s ID rather than a model, experience, or other asset ID.
-
Confirm that you put the ID in the property appropriate to the object: a UI image property for an interface image, or the relevant content property for a texture or decal.
