You can also find diamonds occasionally in rare ore deposits, earn them from quests, defeat Rare Stone Talus, or discover a few in chests. Save diamonds you may need for Champion weapons or the Diamond Circlet before selling them for rupees.
Trade Luminous Stones with Ledo
For a dependable exchange, find Ledo near the entrance to Zora’s Domain and complete the Luminous Stone Gathering quest. He trades 10 Luminous Stones for one diamond. The first exchange also completes the quest and gives you an additional diamond, making it especially worthwhile if you have the stones to spare. Zelda Dungeon’s diamond reference lists the quest and exchange.
Mine rare ore deposits
Ore deposits can occasionally produce diamonds, but a deposit is not a guaranteed diamond. Nintendo’s Eldin region guide notes that deposits around Death Mountain occasionally yield precious gems, including diamonds.
Break ore efficiently and watch for hazards
- Use a Drillshaft or Iron Sledgehammer on hard deposits when available. Nintendo recommends these tools; swords and spears are less effective and take more damage while breaking ore.
- Be alert for falling magma bombs while mining in Eldin, and prepare for the region’s heat hazards.
Defeat Rare Stone Talus
Rare Stone Talus can drop diamonds, so hunting them is another option if you are ready for a fight. Drops are not an immediate, fixed exchange, and the available reference does not establish a probability. Treat Talus hunting as a combat-based chance rather than a guaranteed farming method. Zelda Dungeon’s item reference lists Rare Stone Talus among diamond sources.

Earn diamonds from quests

- Rushroom Rush!: This quest at Gerudo Canyon Stable is listed as a diamond-reward quest.
- The Weapon Connoisseur: Show Nebb an Ancient Short Sword to receive a diamond.
The quest rewards and locations are listed in Zelda Dungeon’s diamond reference.
Check selected chests
A limited number of overworld chests contain diamonds. The listed areas include locations near Hyrule Castle and in the Hebra Tower and Wasteland Tower regions. These are one-time finds rather than an unlimited source, and exact chest coordinates are not established in the available reference. Use chest searches as a supplement to trading, mining, or quests. Zelda Dungeon’s reference identifies these regions.

Should you sell diamonds?
Vendors, including Beedle, buy diamonds for 500 rupees apiece, according to Zelda Dungeon’s item reference. But diamonds also go toward restoring Champion weapons and making and enhancing the Diamond Circlet. Before selling one, decide whether you need it for either of those uses; the sale turns a useful item into rupees you can spend now.
