If Fortnite XP is not progressing, first check whether the XP bar is stuck across every mode or only in Creative. Then check whether you are expecting XP for an ended season, or whether XP has advanced but a specific Battle Pass reward still needs to be unlocked or claimed. These problems have different fixes.
First identify what is stuck
Check whether the XP bar itself is unchanged, a quest reward is missing, or a particular pass reward is unavailable. XP gain and reward claiming are separate: leveling up does not necessarily mean every reward is automatically claimed.
Fortnite XP can come from quests, match play, Kickstart quests, and eligible Creative maps. Epic says XP earned in any Fortnite experience advances all active passes simultaneously. Epic’s guide to earning XP in Fortnite and its Battle Pass progression explanation describe these systems.
Check whether the problem is limited to one XP source
If XP is stuck everywhere
Try another eligible source, such as a quest or a regular match, and see whether the XP bar changes. If XP progresses there, the issue is likely specific to the activity or map you were playing rather than all Fortnite progression. If no source advances XP and the checks below do not explain it, report the issue in-game.

If XP is missing only in Creative
Creative XP is subject to diminishing returns. Epic says earned XP can decrease after a threshold of Creative XP or when you repeat the same actions or play the same game repeatedly. Creative maps also need to be eligible to award XP.
If you stop receiving XP across Creative experiences, Epic recommends waiting 24 hours and trying again. If the issue appears limited to one creator island, it may be an island eligibility issue rather than a problem with your account: XP eligibility depends on the creator’s Accolade Device setup and Epic’s island guidelines. Epic says Player Support cannot manually re-enable island XP; creators who believe XP was disabled in error can submit a bug report. See Epic’s Creative XP guidance and its article on island XP being disabled.

Check whether the Battle Pass season has ended
XP does not keep advancing an ended season’s Battle Pass. Epic states that once a season ends, XP progression for that season’s pass stops. Check the live Battle Pass information for the specific season you expect to advance; do not assume an expired pass can still earn levels. See Epic’s explanation of XP at the end of a Fortnite season.
If levels advance but a reward is missing
A missing reward after leveling may be a requirement or claiming issue rather than missing XP. For a missing Bonus Reward, Epic advises checking that the Battle Pass is active, confirming you have reached the required number of level-ups, and claiming preceding rewards. Then restart Fortnite and check again. Follow Epic’s Bonus Reward troubleshooting steps.

Supercharged XP is optional catch-up, not a requirement
Supercharged XP is a temporary boost related to missed Daily or Weekly quests; it ends after the missed XP has been made up. It is not required for ordinary XP to work. When active, orange XP notifications and a lightning bolt beside the XP bar indicate the boost. Epic also runs periodic server-wide Supercharged XP events. If you are not seeing the boost, that alone does not mean XP is broken. See Epic’s Supercharged XP explanation.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Report an unexplained XP problem
If XP still does not progress after trying another eligible source and checking the season, Creative cooldown, and reward requirements, submit an in-game bug report. The official support guidance does not determine whether a particular player’s XP was lost or delayed, so include what stopped progressing and whether it happens in all modes or only one activity. Avoid assuming that reinstalling the game or changing hardware will restore XP; Epic’s guidance does not identify those as fixes.
