To enter a Fortnite Creative code, open Play, find the Search bar in Discover, enter the island code, select the matching island, and choose Play. Fortnite calls these “island codes”; they use the format xxxx-xxxx-xxxx.
Enter an island code in Fortnite
- Launch Fortnite and open Play.
- In Discover, scroll down to the Search bar.
- Enter the island code, including its hyphens. You can search by the island’s title instead if you have it.
- Select the matching island from the results.
- Choose Play to launch the island.
Epic Games Support describes the Search bar as a place to enter “the island name/code, the creator code, or the custom key.” Its current instructions use the Play → Search route: Epic’s instructions for searching Fortnite islands, maps, and custom matches.

If your Fortnite screen looks different
Epic’s current support guidance directs players to Discover’s Search bar. Some official Creative tutorials show a lobby flow with an ISLAND CODE tab instead. If that tab appears in your interface, use it to enter the code; otherwise, use Search. Epic’s Creative tutorial showing the Island Code tab.
Check the code and access if the island does not appear
- Check the format: Island codes are four digits, a hyphen, four digits, a hyphen, then four digits: xxxx-xxxx-xxxx. Epic Support: where to find an island’s codes.
- Confirm the island is published: Only public or privately published Creative islands have island codes. An unpublished island cannot be found by code.
- Check parental controls: An island’s rating may exceed the level allowed by the account’s parental controls. A parent or guardian can unlock an individual island with the parental PIN, subject to the account’s controls. Epic’s Discover guide.
- Try searching by title: If you know the island’s name, enter it in Search and select the matching result.
Save an island for later
After finding the island, use its tile menu or island page to favorite it, making it easier to return to. Epic’s Discover guide covers searching, playing, and favoriting islands: Exploring Discover in Fortnite Creative.
