To enter a Fortnite tournament, open the Battle Royale lobby, choose the event in the Compete tab, and queue through Play → Mode Selection → By Epic during its scheduled session. To qualify for later rounds, meet that event’s eligibility and rank requirements, then place high enough in each stage. There is no single qualification rule for every tournament: check the in-game listing and its matching official rules before you compete.
How to join a Fortnite tournament
- Open the event listing. From the Battle Royale lobby, select Compete and choose the tournament you want to enter.
- Check the event details. Confirm its date and session time, region, game mode, eligibility requirements, and rules.
- Select the tournament mode. Go to Play, open Mode Selection, and choose the event under By Epic.
- Queue during the listed session. Follow any event-specific instructions; sessions have set dates and times.
Epic’s tournament entry guide describes this workflow. A tournament may award points for eliminations or surviving longer, but its scoring and advancement rules are event-specific.
Meet the entry requirements
Use the current event rules as the final checklist. Epic’s general guide and its June 4, 2026 Master Rules describe these common requirements:
- Age: Generally at least 13, or older where local law or the event rules require it.
- Account security: Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) on your Epic account.
- Account level: Requirements vary. Epic’s guide describes level 50 for general tournaments and level 350 for most cash-prize events. The June 2026 Master Rules specify level 350 for FNCS, Cash Cups, and Performance Evaluations, and level 50 for other listed competitions.
- Recent tournament history: Under those 2026 Master Rules, FNCS entrants must have played at least 14 distinct Epic tournaments in the previous 180 days. Replaying a tournament or entering it in several regions does not make it several distinct tournaments, according to Epic’s guide.
- Rank, division, or leaderboard position: Some events or stages require a specific standing. The required threshold is not universal.
- Team and roster: Check whether the event is Solos, Duos, Trios, or another format, and confirm every teammate meets its requirements.
- Region and eligibility restrictions: Enter only an eligible region and check the rules for location restrictions and competitive bans.
- Prize claims for minors: Epic’s guide says players under 18 need signed parent or guardian permission to claim cash prizes.
For the detailed event-wide conditions, consult Epic’s Fortnite Competitive Master Rules, dated June 4, 2026, alongside the tournament’s own rules.

How tournament qualification works
Most qualification is a sequence of event-specific stages, not a fixed score that applies across Fortnite. A tournament’s rules define who may enter, how points are awarded, and which placements advance. Reaching a qualifying rank or division may unlock an event; performance in its sessions may then determine advancement. Check the scoring table and advancement places for the specific round you plan to play.
FNCS requirements and format
FNCS has extra eligibility conditions and its format can differ by event. Under Epic’s June 4, 2026 Master Rules, FNCS requires account level 350 or higher and participation in at least 14 distinct Epic tournaments during the previous 180 days. The event’s own rules may add rank, Power Rankings, roster, or other restrictions.

2026 Duos FNCS
Epic’s December 10, 2025 announcement described a 2026 Duos route through Divisional Cups and Division 1, followed by a Major’s Play-In. The announced later stages included Heats, a Last Chance Qualifier, and Major Finals. Advancement depended on placements specified for the relevant region and stage; consult the 2026 FNCS announcement and rules for the route that applies.
2026 FNCS Solos
Epic published a separate Solos ruleset on August 31, 2026, with Qualifier Rounds, Fast Track, Heats, Last Chance stages, and Finals. In that event, Qualifier Round 1 required players to rank in the top 200,000 of the overall Power Rankings leaderboard; those in the top 5,000 could choose to start in Round 2. These thresholds describe that Solos event only, not a general FNCS or tournament requirement. Read the FNCS Solos 2026 Official Rules before relying on them.

Choose an event that fits your eligibility
Epic lists different competitive offerings, including Cash Cups, Victory Cups, Ranked Cups, Console Cups, and cosmetic events. Before committing, compare the event’s entry thresholds, solo or team format, schedule, region, advancement structure, and prize type. Their requirements are set out separately, so eligibility for one competition does not establish eligibility for another.
Rules and formats can change. Use the event shown in Fortnite and its matching entry in Epic’s Competitive Rules Library for the current requirements. Epic’s FNCS overview also summarizes the series and its eligibility.
