To disable swing assistance, open Settings → Keyboard or Controller → Combat, select the hero instead of All Heroes, then switch off that hero’s swing option. For Spider-Man, it is called Automatic Swing; for Venom, it is Easy Swing.
Turn off Automatic Swing for Spider-Man
- From the main screen, open Settings.
- Choose Keyboard or Controller, based on the input method you want to change.
- Open Combat.
- Open the hero selector, which may show All Heroes, and select Spider-Man.
- In the Hero section, switch Automatic Swing off.
The walkthrough describing this path notes that players who use both keyboard and controller may need to repeat the change in each input menu. Max Dalton’s walkthrough shows the menu path and label.
Turn off Easy Swing for Venom
Use the same Settings → Keyboard or Controller → Combat path, select Venom in the hero selector, then switch Easy Swing off in the Hero section. The setting is hero-specific, so changing Spider-Man’s option does not change Venom’s. Arcader News’ guide covers both heroes and also mentions the separate Hold to Swing behavior.
What switching it off changes
The guides describe Automatic/Easy Swing as letting the game select swing targets. Turning it off gives you more deliberate control over target selection; it is a preference, not a guaranteed performance improvement. The distinction between Spider-Man’s and Venom’s labels and the described targeting effect are also covered by NME’s guide.

If you cannot find the option
- Check that the hero selector is set to Spider-Man or Venom, not All Heroes.
- Make sure you are in Combat settings and look in the Hero section.
- If you play with both keyboard and controller, check the relevant setting under both input menus.
- Menu wording or placement may change with game updates. The available walkthrough and guides document the path, but are not current official settings documentation.
