To turn on Shift Lock in Roblox, open the experience’s Settings, enable Shift Lock Switch if it appears, then press Shift on your keyboard to toggle camera modes. The option may be unavailable if the experience developer has locked the camera mode.
Turn on Shift Lock in a Roblox experience
- Join the Roblox experience.
- Open the in-experience Settings menu.
- Find and enable Shift Lock Switch, if the setting is available.
- Return to play and press Shift on your keyboard to toggle camera modes.
Roblox describes the available modes as Classic and Follow. The switch lets you change between them only when the experience developer has not locked the camera mode. See Roblox’s in-experience settings guidance.
Why Shift Lock may not be available
If you cannot find or use Shift Lock Switch, the experience may have its camera mode fixed by its developer. In that case, the player cannot switch between Classic and Follow using this setting. Roblox’s cited guidance does not establish other causes, so check the experience’s available settings rather than assuming a keyboard or account problem.
What experience creators can configure
Roblox Creator Hub documents StarterPlayer.EnableMouseLockOption as a Boolean property and provides a code sample titled “Enabling a Player’s Mouse Lock.” This is a creator-facing setting, not the player’s in-session Settings toggle. Keyboard and platform scope
The official player instructions describe pressing Shift on a keyboard. They do not establish steps for enabling or toggling Shift Lock on mobile devices or consoles, so a mobile or console method cannot be confirmed here.
