Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsIf NPC health bars are missing, start with WoW’s nameplate visibility controls and targeted nameplate commands. Use the full CVar reset only as a last resort: it resets more than nameplates, so you may need to restore other interface preferences afterward.
Check whether nameplates are hidden
Blizzard’s guidance for missing NPC health bars starts with the visibility controls. Blizzard Support’s “WoW NPC Health Bars Missing” says CTRL+V toggles nameplates for NPCs and players, enemies and allies; Shift+V toggles friendly NPCs and players.
If those shortcuts do not match your bindings, open the in-game menu and go to Key Bindings → Targeting. Check or assign “Show Enemy Name Plates.” To keep nameplates visible when nothing is targeted, go to Interface → Name and enable “Always show nameplates.”
Try targeted nameplate fixes first
For the missing-NPC-health-bar issue addressed by Blizzard’s support article, try its narrower distance reset before resetting all CVars. Enter the first command in chat, then reload:

If the visibility checks and targeted commands do not resolve the missing bars, Blizzard’s final documented step is a broad CVar reset:

/console CVar_default/reload
Blizzard’s support page says to reload at the end of the command sequence so changes are applied. This is not a nameplate-only reset. A Blizzard-hosted forum discussion likewise describes the command as resetting the UI and recommends individual nameplate CVars for narrower problems. Expect to revisit interface settings beyond nameplates after using the full reset.
