RuneLite’s Puzzle Solver is an on-screen guide for puzzle boxes: it shows you where to click. For clue-scroll light boxes, use the separate Light Box Puzzle Solver instead. Identify which puzzle you have, open the matching feature in RuneLite, and follow its in-game guidance.
Which RuneLite puzzle helper do you need?

These are distinct helpers, not two names for the same feature. The Puzzle Solver documentation describes click guidance for puzzle boxes; it does not claim to handle every puzzle in Old School RuneScape.
How to use the Puzzle Solver for a puzzle box
- Use the official RuneLite client. Download it through RuneLite’s official website. RuneLite’s FAQ warns against unofficial clients claiming to be RuneLite.
- Open RuneLite’s plugin or configuration interface. Find the Puzzle Solver feature there. The published documentation confirms the feature’s purpose but does not specify a current, verified click-by-click menu path or settings list, so interface labels may differ by client version or profile.
- Open the puzzle box in game. Look for the solver’s on-screen guidance, which indicates where to click. Follow the displayed guidance in the game rather than expecting the plugin description to provide a separate written solution.
The RuneLite project wiki describes Puzzle Solver as showing where to click to solve puzzle boxes. Its page was edited May 20, 2024; the RuneLite Client 1.13.0 API documentation also identifies a PuzzleSolverPlugin. Neither source publishes a detailed current walkthrough of controls or configuration.
How to use the Light Box Puzzle Solver
If the clue scroll presents a light-box puzzle, look for RuneLite’s separately listed Light Box Puzzle Solver in the plugin or configuration interface. Its stated purpose is to solve light-box puzzles during clue scrolls. Do not look for the ordinary Puzzle Solver’s puzzle-box click guidance to handle this different puzzle type.

If you can’t find the feature
- Check that you are using RuneLite’s official client and the intended client profile.
- Search the current plugin or configuration interface for the feature name that matches your puzzle type: Puzzle Solver for puzzle boxes, or Light Box Puzzle Solver for clue-scroll light boxes.
- If it still does not appear, consult RuneLite’s current support resources. The published sources do not give a Puzzle Solver-specific troubleshooting procedure or confirm a particular setting that must be enabled.
What the documentation does—and doesn’t—promise
The documented role is narrow: the Puzzle Solver guides clicks on puzzle boxes, while the Light Box Puzzle Solver handles clue-scroll light boxes. The cited documentation does not establish broader puzzle coverage, accuracy rates, time savings, or a complete list of current controls. No purchase or physical item is required by the documented feature.
