Her story progresses as you reach certain milestones, and acquiring the Crystal Heart is reported to turn her into a hostile Husk Miner. A Team Cherry comment reported by the community-maintained Hollow Knight Wiki hints at “always the chance of a happy ending” if she is not killed—but ends with “…right?”, so it is not confirmation of a playable rescue route.
What happens to Myla as you progress?
Myla is a miner in the northeast of the Forgotten Crossroads, near an entrance to Crystal Peak. She sings while working, and her dialogue changes as the Knight advances.
- After acquiring Vengeful Spirit: her dialogue changes.
- After defeating Soul Master: she shows signs of infection, and her dialogue reflects that change.
- After acquiring Crystal Heart: the Hollow Knight Wiki’s Myla entry identifies this as the point when she becomes a hostile Husk Miner.
The progression and dialogue states are described in the Hollow Knight Wiki’s Myla entry. The entry also describes changes in her Dream Nail dialogue: after infection, fragments of her song remain. That detail suggests her identity persists through the change, but it does not show that the infection can be reversed.
Can you prevent the infection or restore her?
The cited entry documents no cure, rescue interaction, or item that restores Myla. It also does not establish a reliable way to keep her in her earlier state by avoiding a particular boss, item, or route. If she is already hostile, no restoration method is documented there.

The Wiki reports that Team Cherry once answered an AMA question by saying that if Myla is not killed, there is “always the chance of a happy ending,” followed by “…right?” The original AMA was not independently verified here, and the wording itself is uncertain. Treat it as an ambiguous hint, not evidence of a hidden rescue mechanic or guaranteed outcome.

If you want to avoid killing Myla, you can leave her alone once she becomes hostile. The reported AMA comment leaves open a possibility, but does not explain what a “happy ending” would mean or how to achieve one.

The Wiki entry says killing fully infected Myla counts toward the Husk Miner Journal entry. It does not establish that killing her is required for an ending or completion target, or that it changes an ending.
