Epic’s sale did run from May 15 to June 12, 2025, and its guide mentioned giveaways generally, but the sources cited here do not confirm that a specific Fortnite cosmetic was given away to fulfill the rumor.
What did the leak say?
Josh Challies’s May 14, 2025 report for Insider Gaming attributed the prediction to prominent Fortnite leaker ShiinaBR, saying the sale was likely to “include free cosmetics.” The report appeared one day before the sale began. It did not name a cosmetic or provide a confirmed claim method.

The report advised readers to watch Fortnite’s social channels and the Item Shop. That was practical advice based on the rumor, not confirmation from Epic that a reward would appear.
When did the 2025 MEGA Sale run?
Epic’s official MEGA Sale 2025 guide, published May 15, said the sale ran from May 15 at 11 a.m. ET through June 12 at 11 a.m. ET. It described discounts, weekly free games, and featured giveaways. Those details establish the sale’s dates and general promotions, but do not confirm the specific Fortnite cosmetic prediction.

Was Epic Rewards the same as a free cosmetic?
No. In a separate May 9, 2025 announcement, Epic said qualifying purchases in Fortnite, Rocket League, and Fall Guys made through Epic’s payment system would earn 20% back in Epic Rewards globally on PC, iOS, Android, and web. This was a purchase-based rewards promotion, not a free cosmetic giveaway. Epic later updated the announcement with an extension to the MEGA boost, so its original end date should not be treated as current. See Epic’s announcement for its historical terms.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What can be confirmed about the rumored 2025 cosmetic?
The available sources establish that ShiinaBR’s prediction was reported before the sale and that Epic advertised giveaways during the sale. They do not establish that the specific Fortnite giveaway prediction came true, identify a 2025 cosmetic, or document a claim process. Because the sale ended on June 12, 2025, the rumor is historical rather than an offer players can still claim.
