Yes. Resident Evil Requiem officially features both Grace Ashcroft and Leon S. Kennedy as protagonists. Early coverage foregrounded Grace, but the current PlayStation game page describes the pair’s intertwined journeys and distinct gameplay styles. It does not identify Leon as the sole or overriding protagonist.
Why did the Grace Ashcroft trailer leave the question open?
Early official coverage focused on Grace. In a PlayStation Blog Q&A published June 26, 2025, producer Masato Kumazawa called her “a new, relatable protagonist” and explained that her vulnerability was intended to create tension and immersion. He contrasted her with earlier series protagonists Leon and Chris, but that description established Grace’s role; it did not rule out Leon appearing as another protagonist.
The current official PlayStation game page makes the two-character framing explicit: it presents both Grace and Leon as protagonists and says their journeys and distinct gameplay styles intertwine. The chronology is straightforward—Grace was foregrounded in earlier coverage, while the current product description describes both characters. The earlier Grace-focused trailer should not be treated as proof that Leon was secretly being confirmed at the time.
What roles do Grace and Leon have?
PlayStation describes Grace as an FBI technical analyst drawn into the investigation and Leon as a veteran DSO agent investigating a string of deaths in the Midwest. The official page presents them as two protagonists, not as a lead character and a confirmed replacement.

- Amazon Exclusive - 2 sided poster included in every game!
- Grace Ashcroft, an FBI intelligence analyst who is introverted and easily scared, representing a new type of character for the Resident Evil series. Grace will experience horror from the same perspective as the player as she learns to overcome her fears throughout the course of the story.
- For the first time ever in Resident Evil history, players will be able to freely switch between both first- and third-person perspectives throughout the game.
- An Anniversary to Remember: With March 2026 marking the Resident Evil series’ 30-year anniversary, Resident Evil Requiem marks its own milestone in the franchise.
- Pre-orders for Resident Evil Requiem are now open, with the bonus of Grace’s costume: Apocalypse. Please note that the picture weapon does not come with the costume, but it can be obtained in-game.
Kumazawa also connected the story to the series’ history: “With Resident Evil Requiem we wanted to return to a story that continues the overarching narrative rooted in Raccoon City and the secret machinations of the Umbrella Corporation”. PlayStation’s description includes the missile-scarred remains of Raccoon City and a chronic care center among the locations.
How do their gameplay styles differ?
The official PlayStation description draws a clear contrast between Grace’s survival-focused play and Leon’s combat emphasis. These are publisher descriptions, not an independent assessment of how the sections feel in practice.

| Comparison | Grace Ashcroft | Leon S. Kennedy |
|---|---|---|
| Official role | Protagonist; an FBI technical analyst | Protagonist; a veteran DSO agent |
| Gameplay emphasis | Horror and survival with limited supplies; choose whether to fight or flee | Firearms and melee combat, parries, enemy weapons, and customizable equipment |
| Perspective options | First- or third-person perspective | First- or third-person perspective |
The contrast signals different approaches to encounters: Grace’s description emphasizes scarcity and risk, while Leon’s highlights a broader set of combat options. The available official copy does not establish how much time each character receives or rank one as the “main” protagonist.

Yes. PlayStation’s game page lists a PS5 Standard Edition. Official pages give conflicting release dates: PlayStation lists February 27, 2026, while a Capcom store announcement says April 17, 2026. Since those listings conflict and do not establish a single date applicable across platforms and regions, the useful current answer is that the game is released. Check the relevant platform or regional store for its current edition and purchase details.

What the official record does not establish
- Leon is not confirmed as the sole, dominant, or overriding protagonist.
- The official descriptions cited here do not give a comparative campaign length or screen-time breakdown for Grace and Leon.
- No Requiem-specific sales total is established by the cited sources. Capcom’s reported figure of over 170 million units in its 2025 Integrated Report is for the Resident Evil series as a whole, not this game.
