How to start the Troubadours quest
Go to the Wagoners’ Inn in Zhelejov after you have started main quest 5, Wedding Crashers. Look for George and Michael seated at a table, speak with George, and agree to help. PowerPyx’s walkthrough lists this as the quest’s start condition.

Get a lute in Troskowitz
The lute is at the carpenter’s workshop in Troskowitz. The carpenter may refuse to sell it at first and explain that his father is staying in the workshop. Try speaking with both the carpenter and his father before resorting to theft: player comments on the PowerPyx guide report successful persuasion or purchase routes, but the options are not established as guaranteed in every game state.
The walkthrough describes waiting until night, entering the workshop, and stealing the lute. A wiki.gg search result reports that convincing the carpenter’s father to let Henry have the lute can leave George and Michael freely wandering in Kuttenberg later, whereas stealing it may result in them being put in the pillory after the owner identifies the lute. Treat these as reported outcomes, not a certain consequence of each choice.

Return the lute and replace its strings
Deal with the drunkard
Take the lute back to George and Michael at the Wagoners’ Inn. A drunkard breaks it shortly after you deliver it. You can fight him or pass a Persuasion check to obtain an apology, according to the PowerPyx walkthrough.
Find sheep gut for Vostatek
George and Michael direct you to Huntsman Vostatek, whose home is southeast of Vidlak Pond. He needs sheep gut to make replacement strings. The walkthrough says the butcher in Troskowitz sells Sheep Guts for little money. It recommends buying the gut rather than killing a sheep if you are pursuing the Lent achievement; that achievement advice is specific to the walkthrough and is not independently confirmed by the wiki.gg result.
Once Vostatek has made the strings, return to the Wagoners’ Inn and hand them to the minstrels.
Settle George and Michael’s debt
Ask Innkeeper Lawrence about George and Michael. You can pay to resolve the debt or do the inn’s work yourself:

| Pay Lawrence | Pass a Speech check, then pay him to hire someone else. PowerPyx reports an initial request of 100 groschen, which can be haggled. | Costs money but avoids the chores. |
| Do the work | Use the spade by the dirt pile to dig out the latrine behind the barn, then carry eight sacks from the barrel-cart area to the left side of the barn. | Saves the payment but takes time and manual work. |
After paying Lawrence or completing both chores, return to George and Michael and tell them the debt is settled. That completes the quest.

PowerPyx reports that Troubadours gives no reward. The notable choice is how you obtain the lute: the available accounts associate theft with a possible pillory encounter in Kuttenberg and permission from the carpenter’s father with the pair remaining free, but neither source establishes those outcomes as universal.
