The pitch mixes hidden identities and evidence gathering with real-time combat: Wolves hunt Lambs, while Lambs can investigate and fight back. TGS previews saw promise in that twist, but also raised build-specific questions about readability, role balance and polish.
What is KILLER INN?
KILLER INN is an online competitive action game from Square Enix. Players are assigned to a larger team of Lambs or a smaller team of Wolves. Lambs try to identify and stop the Wolves; Wolves conceal their identities and attack. Unlike traditional social-deduction games built around a meeting and a vote, Square Enix describes KILLER INN as having no discussion phase or vote-based elimination. Evidence gathering and real-time combat are central to its design. Square Enix’s official game page describes the current product; the TGS demo was an earlier build.
Was KILLER INN playable at TGS 2025?
Yes. Square Enix’s TGS 2025 event page advertised an early hands-on demo drawing on Closed Beta Test #2 content, ahead of the Steam playtest. The event broadcast also featured a gameplay introduction and discussion of changes informed by feedback from Closed Beta Test #1. Hands-on coverage from UnGeek and Cubed3 confirms the game was playable at the show.
How does a match combine deduction and combat?
The core tension is that finding the killer is not only a matter of reading other players: the Lambs are armed and can defend themselves, according to UnGeek’s TGS hands-on. Cubed3 describes clues including hair, fingerprints and torn clothing. That gives the Lambs information to interpret while the threat of a direct attack keeps the match in motion.

Square Enix’s “No Discussion, No Voting” description means the game does not use the familiar formal meeting-and-elimination loop. It should not be read as a promise that players never communicate. An earlier July 2025 preview from Windows Central described proximity voice chat, with emotes and pins as alternatives for players who did not want to speak. That preview predates TGS and Closed Beta Test #2, so it is historical context rather than confirmation of how every feature worked in the TGS build.
How many players are in a KILLER INN match?
Cubed3 reported 24 players in the TGS 2025 demo. Treat that as the preview’s description of the match it covered, not a guarantee that every mode, lobby or current Early Access match uses that count. The official product page does not establish a universal current player count.

What were the multiplayer concerns in the TGS demo?
The main question is whether a large match can stay legible while players gather clues, conceal their roles and fight. A 24-player format can make every encounter feel volatile, but it also puts pressure on players to understand what is happening and coordinate without a traditional vote. UnGeek called the short TGS session chaotic but promising, and saw the armed-Lamb setup as a way for the innocent side to defend itself.
Cubed3’s October 2, 2025 preview was more specific about the build’s rough edges: it described animations as slightly stiff and said the balance between Wolves and Lambs still needed work. Those are observations about the TGS demo, not a verdict on later updates or the Early Access version. A brief show-floor session can establish the premise and surface concerns; it cannot show whether the match pacing, role balance or coordination hold up over extended play.

Can the Lambs fight back?
Yes. UnGeek’s account of the TGS demo describes Lambs as armed, so they are not limited to investigating and fleeing. That gives the hunted side a way to defend itself, while making the balance between the larger Lamb team and the smaller Wolf team especially important.

The TGS 2025 build should not be confused with the later release. Square Enix’s current official page says KILLER INN entered digital-only Early Access on Steam on February 12, 2026. That later product context does not establish that its features, balance or animation quality match what attendees saw at TGS.

For dated PC context, Square Enix’s June 9, 2025 announcement listed closed-beta requirements: Windows 10 64-bit or Windows 11; Ryzen 5 1600 or Core i5-7500 minimum; 16 GB memory; Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB or GeForce GTX 1060 6GB minimum graphics; DirectX 12; broadband internet; and 75 GB storage on an SSD. Recommended beta specifications included Ryzen 5 5500 or Core i7-9700K/Core i5-10600, 16 GB memory, and Radeon RX 5700 or GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER. These are beta requirements published in 2025, not verified current Early Access specifications.
