LEGO Fortnite players are experimenting with steerable cars and flying builds using parts and controls inside the game. Epic introduced vehicle-building systems in LEGO Fortnite Odyssey’s Mechanical Mayhem update; players’ shared creations show some of the ways they are adapting those tools, but individual posts do not tell us how common the hobby is.
How vehicle building works in LEGO Fortnite Odyssey
In LEGO Fortnite Odyssey, vehicles are assembled from in-game components. Epic’s Mechanical Mayhem update notes introduced individual Vehicle Parts in the Toys section and explained that players can use controls to drive their creations. The LEGO Group’s guide to the update also describes vehicle builds and steering wheels.
The steering wheel is part of the in-game vehicle system. Beyond that, component choices depend on what a builder is trying to make; the official material describes the tools, not one required design recipe for every car or aircraft.
How to build a simple vehicle
Start with the vehicle parts and controls available in the Toys menu in Odyssey, then build around the kind of movement you want. Epic’s notes and LEGO’s guide establish the in-game components and steering system, but they do not provide a universal blueprint or standardized performance results.

- For a land vehicle, plan for steering and ground navigation.
- For a flying build, treat flight and landing or ground movement as separate design challenges; the parts and arrangement will depend on the build.
Players have asked for quick, simple builds in community posts, including one titled “How to build simple vehicle ASAP?” That is an example of a player’s question, not an official set of instructions.
How players experiment with flying builds
Community creations include aircraft experiments as well as cars. In a post titled “I have a dream to fly! Pt.2,” a player described adding steerable tyres for land navigation. It illustrates one creator’s approach to combining flight with ground movement; it does not establish that the design is especially fast, stable, or reliable, or that other players need to copy it.

Epic’s surfaced v40.10 update notes describe a guided Zeppelin Balloon build and controls based on familiar vehicle inputs, showing that vehicle-related systems have continued to evolve. The notes alone do not confirm the exact current availability of that build in every game version, so check the in-game menu for what is available to you.
Odyssey building is not Fortnite Creative or UEFN
“Creative” can describe a play style, but Fortnite Creative and UEFN are also formal creation contexts. They are not the same thing as assembling vehicles in LEGO Fortnite Odyssey’s sandbox.

Epic’s documentation for LEGO assets in Fortnite Creative and working with LEGO islands covers separate island tools, assets, scale, and rules. For example, Epic notes that some spawners are unsuitable for minifigures because they cannot reach the controls. Those constraints apply to LEGO islands in Creative/UEFN, not as a general description of Odyssey vehicle building.

No physical set is needed for the in-game activity described here. Epic and LEGO explain vehicle construction through in-game parts and controls. Physical LEGO Fortnite sets are adjacent merchandise for people interested in building or collecting physical models; the available sources do not show that buying one enables or supplies the parts for Odyssey vehicle designs. LEGO’s 2024 US holiday catalog is an example of physical-set merchandising, not an in-game building requirement.
