Epic has not publicly said whether Crosshair V2 specifically can get you banned in Fortnite. Epic Support says it cannot determine or disclose whether a particular third-party program can lead to a ban, and says Fortnite does not officially support third-party software. Epic’s rules prohibit cheats and tools that provide an unfair advantage, but the official sources cited here do not classify Crosshair V2 itself as a cheat. If you want to avoid uncertainty about this overlay, do not run it while playing Fortnite.
What Epic says about Crosshair V2
Epic Support’s guidance is deliberately noncommittal: “Epic Games Support cannot determine or disclose whether using a specific third-party software can lead to a ban in Fortnite.” It also says, “Fortnite and Epic Games do not officially support the use of third-party software; use them at your own risk.” Read Epic’s third-party software guidance.
That means the product-specific answer is unknown in public Epic guidance. It would be inaccurate to say Crosshair V2 is definitely safe, or that using it automatically results in a ban.
What Fortnite’s rules prohibit
Epic’s Terms of Service, effective September 10, 2026, prohibit using or encouraging cheats, as well as having cheat software, tools, or hardware present on a device used to access Epic products. Epic describes cheats as tools or actions that cause problems such as hacking or provide an unfair advantage; examples include bots, hacks, add-ons, malware, scripts, and mods not approved by Epic. The Terms say Epic may take action against an account if it finds evidence of cheating.

Those are general rules. They do not, by themselves, establish that Epic has publicly classified this particular overlay as a cheat. The Fortnite Code of Conduct likewise says not to cheat and explains that enforcement is handled case by case, with consequences ranging from a warning to a permanent ban depending on severity and repeat behavior.
What Crosshair V2 is—and what its store listing does not mean
The Epic Games Store listing identifies Crosshair V2 as a Windows overlay for custom crosshairs, developed and published by CenterPoint Gaming. It lists a January 26, 2023 release date and says the product is free, with possible in-app purchases.

- QD-OLED technology enables stunningly rich color and clarity, while QHD resolution (2560x1440) provides high level of detail.
- 360Hz refresh rate translates to superb motion clarity, empowering players to see and react to in-game situations at high speed.
- 0.03 ms gray-to-gray minimum response time** virtually eliminates blurring and ghosting and keeps latency to an absolute minimum.
- Infinite contrast ratio and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 make for deep blacks and stunning brights, all in the same scene.
- Excellent color performance with DCI-P3 99.3% color coverage and Delta E<2 accuracy for true-to-life visuals.
Being listed in the Epic Games Store confirms those product details; it is not an explicit ruling that the software is approved for use in Fortnite gameplay. Epic-published coverage describes CenterPoint Gaming’s products as PC game overlays and Crosshair X as a related paid product, but does not establish Fortnite approval for either program. Read Epic’s coverage of CenterPoint Gaming.
What happens if Epic finds cheating
Epic Support says its April 2025 policy change set a one-year matchmaking ban for a first cheating offense and a lifetime ban for a second. During the first ban, a player can still log in and use text or voice chat, but cannot enter Epic- or creator-made experiences or spectate other players. These are Epic’s stated general cheating sanctions; they are not a prediction that Crosshair V2 will trigger enforcement. See Epic’s cheating-enforcement policy.

- Curved at 180Hz: A 1500R arc pulls the 27-inch picture into your peripheral view while the panel refreshes up to 180Hz, so corners feel closer and fast turns stay readable instead of smearing.
- Colors That Hold Their Punch: Full HD 1920x1080 keeps text and edges crisp, a 3000:1 contrast gives dark scenes real weight, and 99% sRGB coverage means the greens and reds you see are the ones the game shipped with.
- Synced to Your GPU: Adaptive Sync matches the panel's refresh to whatever your graphics card is pushing out, so motion stays smooth when frame rates dip and you stop fighting lag in the middle of a firefight.
- Hook Up Whatever You Own: Two HDMI 2.0 ports and a DisplayPort 1.2 input cover consoles, laptops, and desktops, and there is an audio out for your own speakers or headset. Note that the panel itself has no built-in speakers.
- Easy on the Eyes, Built for Focus: A flicker-free backlight and low blue light mode take the edge off long sessions, the 178-degree viewing angle keeps colors steady if you sit off-center, and a crosshair overlay helps you hold your aim.
Should you use Crosshair V2 in Fortnite?
If you choose to keep using a third-party overlay, you are accepting uncertainty Epic explicitly leaves unresolved. If you want to minimize this particular uncertainty, close or uninstall the overlay before playing Fortnite. Avoiding Crosshair V2 does not guarantee protection from unrelated account enforcement, and no method can be recommended to bypass anti-cheat checks.
If you want a reticle without running overlay software, some gaming monitors offer built-in on-screen crosshair styles; availability and controls vary by model. A monitor manual documents selectable reticles, but that feature does not establish Epic approval or how every implementation is treated under Fortnite’s rules. See an example monitor guide.
