If KartRider: Drift closes or disconnects on a Windows PC, first check that the computer meets the game’s listed requirements and update its graphics driver. If the PC uses Intel 6th-generation-or-newer integrated graphics, an official game notice documents a specific workaround: run Kartdrift.exe in Windows 7 compatibility mode. That dated workaround is not a universal fix. If Windows itself restarts or displays a stop code, diagnose the Windows problem separately.
First identify what is crashing
Note exactly what happens and when: does KartRider: Drift close to the desktop, disconnect, fail at startup, or crash during a race? Record any error message or code and whether the problem began after a driver, Windows, or game change. A game exit or disconnect calls for game-focused checks; a full PC restart or Windows stop code calls for system-level troubleshooting.
Check the PC against the published requirements
Steam lists Windows 10 or above (64-bit) for both minimum and recommended operating systems. Its requirements, accessed in 2026, are:

Compare your actual CPU, graphics hardware, RAM, Windows edition, and free storage with Steam’s KartRider: Drift system requirements. Falling below a minimum is a compatibility concern, not proof that it caused the crash or that a particular upgrade is needed. Meeting the listed requirements also does not guarantee stable performance on every PC.

Update the graphics driver
The game’s Steam FAQ, dated January 25, 2023, advises checking the requirements and updating the graphics driver. Nexon’s November 21, 2024 issue notice also identifies outdated graphics drivers as a possible source of PC trouble. These notices document known issues; they do not establish that every crash is driver-related.
- Identify the graphics hardware in the PC, including whether it is Intel integrated graphics, NVIDIA, or AMD.
- Get the current driver from the graphics hardware manufacturer and install the version appropriate for that device.
- Restart Windows, then launch the game and see whether the same symptom occurs.
The manufacturer depends on the PC’s actual graphics hardware; do not choose a driver based only on the computer brand.

Use the compatibility workaround only for the documented Intel case
The January 2023 Steam FAQ and November 2024 Nexon notice describe crashes or disconnects on PCs using Intel 6th-generation-or-newer integrated graphics. For that specific configuration, they recommend setting Kartdrift.exe to Windows 7 compatibility mode.
- Find
Kartdrift.exein the game’s installation folder. - Right-click the file and choose Properties.
- Open the Compatibility tab and select Run this program in compatibility mode for:, then choose Windows 7.
- Select Apply, close the dialog, and launch the game to test the result.
This is a dated, configuration-specific workaround, not a setting to apply indiscriminately to PCs with other graphics hardware. Change one setting at a time so you can tell whether it made a difference. The instructions appear in the KartRider: Drift Steam FAQ and Nexon’s issue notice.

If Windows restarts or shows a stop code
A game closing to desktop is not the same as the whole computer restarting or showing a blue-screen stop code. Microsoft notes that an unexpected restart may involve hardware, a driver, or software; that guidance does not identify KartRider: Drift as the cause.
- Write down the stop code and any named failing module.
- Check Device Manager for devices marked with an error.
- Check available disk space. Microsoft gives 10%–15% free space as a general Windows guideline, not a KartRider-specific requirement.
- Install available Windows updates and check whether the system-level failure continues.
For persistent restarts or stop codes, use Microsoft’s Windows unexpected-restart and stop-code troubleshooting guidance or seek qualified support. Reinstalling the game is not a substitute for diagnosing a Windows-level failure.

What to include when contacting support
If the targeted checks do not resolve a game-only problem, provide support with the details needed to distinguish hardware, driver, and game symptoms:
- Windows version and whether it is 64-bit
- CPU and graphics model, including whether graphics are integrated
- Graphics driver version
- Whether the game exits, disconnects, or Windows restarts, and when it happens
- Any game error or Windows stop code
- Checks and setting changes already attempted
Nexon’s general technical-support index lists resources such as DxDiag and game-file repair, but that listing does not establish current KartRider: Drift-specific support availability. Current service availability can also vary by region; the cited sources do not verify whether the game is currently playable or supported where you live. Check an accessible official regional announcement or platform status before assuming troubleshooting will restore access.
