Its highlights included warm and cold pig variants, falling-leaf particles for more tree types, and changes to lodestone crafting and loot. It was not the completed Spring to Life release: that broader drop became playable with Bedrock 1.21.70 on March 25, 2025.
What was new in the 1.21.60 experiment?
To try the features in development, players had to enable the new “Drop 1 2025” experiment. The changelog’s gameplay highlights covered pigs, leaf particles, and lodestones.

Warm and cold pigs
The experiment added two pig variants, each with its own texture and geometry but no separate spawn egg. Their appearance was tied to biome groups:
- Cold Pig: Old Growth Pine Taiga, Old Growth Spruce Taiga, Taiga, Snowy Taiga, Windswept Hills, Windswept Gravelly Hills, and Windswept Forest.
- Warm Pig: Savanna, Savanna Plateau, Windswept Savanna, Jungle, Sparse Jungle, Bamboo Jungle, Eroded Badlands, Wooded Badlands, and Badlands.
Temperate biomes kept the same pigs as before. The biome associations and variant details are listed in the official 1.21.60 Bedrock changelog.

Falling-leaf particles
Falling-leaf particles were extended to Oak, Jungle, Acacia, Dark Oak, Spruce, Mangrove, Birch, Azalea, and Flowering Azalea Leaves. Cherry Leaves and Pale Oak Leaves already had the effect and continued to emit particles.
Lodestone crafting and loot
The experimental recipe used one Iron Ingot surrounded by eight Chiseled Stone Blocks. The recipe unlocked when a player obtained an Iron Ingot or a Lodestone. Lodestones could also appear as loot at Ruined Portals in either the Overworld or the Nether.

How to test the features
The update’s notes identify the experiment that must be enabled, but do not give a step-by-step menu path. In a world where experimental features are available, look for the “Drop 1 2025” toggle in that world’s experiment settings. Enabling an experiment changes the world’s settings; use a separate test world if you want to keep an existing world’s setup unchanged.

No. Version 1.21.60 provided experimental testing for some features in development; it did not contain the full, playable Spring to Life drop. Minecraft announced Spring to Life as playable on March 25, 2025, and the Bedrock 1.21.70 changelog labels that release “Spring to Life.”

The released drop covered a broader set of content than the 1.21.60 experiment, including warm and cold cow and chicken variants, climate-associated sheep wool colors, seven wolf personalities and their sounds, new spawn-egg textures, ambient features and plant blocks, and the firefly bush. The Spring to Life announcement and Bedrock 1.21.70 changelog describe the playable release.
