Short southwest route: Old Growth Pine Taiga
Seed -479214757917900209 starts at X 0, Z 16 and has a Java Ancient City at X -192, Z 144, about 231 blocks southwest. The guide’s Bedrock listing is at X -1016, Z 824, about 1,299 blocks southwest.
Jungle start: nearby points of interest
Seed 3915184666319419661 places the Java city at X -144, Z -224, about 266 blocks northwest. The guide also lists a ruined portal, trial chambers, and a jungle temple near this seed, but does not provide their coordinates here.

Dark Forest starts
Choose 8428089283669177173 for a Java city about 510 blocks northwest, at X -384, Z -336. The other Dark Forest option, 8727511438826694304, has its Java city at X -704, Z 112, about 713 blocks west. Their listed Bedrock cities are at different coordinates, as shown above.
Which seed should you choose?
- Shortest listed Java distance:
1330370524365835449, Bamboo Jungle, about 163 blocks. - Old Growth Pine Taiga spawn:
-479214757917900209, with a Java city about 231 blocks away. - Jungle spawn and other listed structures:
3915184666319419661. - Dark Forest spawn: either of the two Dark Forest seeds; select based on the city direction and distance you prefer.
- Playing Bedrock: use the Bedrock coordinates in the table and verify the seed in a newly created world.
How to enter a seed and verify the coordinates
- Create a new world in the edition you intend to play.
- Enter the seed exactly as written, including a leading minus sign where present.
- For Bedrock, the official Minecraft Feedback Seed Picker FAQ says the Seed Picker is available in Bedrock: open Game settings when creating a world and select the box next to Seed. For a typed seed, use the world-creation seed field for your version.
- Confirm your edition and version before traveling. The seed guide labels its Java results 1.21 and provides separate Bedrock results; it does not establish that these locations are unchanged in newer releases.
- Use the listed X and Z coordinates to navigate horizontally. An Ancient City is underground in the Deep Dark, so expect to descend after reaching its location.
World generation can differ by edition and version. Mojang’s FAQ notes that Caves & Cliffs Part II changed world generation enough that Seed Picker selections needed updating; that is another reason to verify a world rather than rely on coordinates from a different edition or generation version.

Approach an Ancient City carefully
The Deep Dark became an official part of Minecraft in the Wild Update in June 2022, according to Mojang’s Deep Dark overview. The biome’s sculk sensors detect vibrations from actions such as walking, placing or breaking blocks, and items falling onto the ground. A sensor can signal a nearby sculk shrieker, which summons a Warden.
- Move quietly near sculk sensors and avoid unnecessary movement or block interaction.
- Watch where dropped items land; their vibrations can also be detected.
- If a Warden appears, remember Mojang describes it as blind and able to navigate by smell and sound. Quiet movement is useful, but it does not make the area risk-free.
Mojang’s article says the Warden has the highest health and melee damage in the game; this is the article’s statement, not a newly verified comparison against every later game update. In the same design discussion, Mariana Salimena explains why city spaces feel oversized: “We wanted the ancient cities to feel like it’s made for a larger creature than a player – that’s why some of the staircases and room shapes are a bit larger than normal and the City Center is a huge central piece.”
