Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2’s Chaos Siege Mode launched October 1, 2026, in Patch 15, also called Anniversary Update II. It is a free PvE addition that lets players fight as Heretic Astartes against Tyranids and Imperial forces. The update is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.
What is Chaos Siege Mode?
Chaos Siege is a new Chaos-focused variant of the game’s Siege mode. Players take control of Heretic Astartes and face Tyranids, Cadians, and loyalist Space Marines across two Siege sectors on Avarax. Patch 15 also introduces the Hive Siege map, Cultist support for Chaos forces, and the ability to deploy a Helbrute. Focus Entertainment describes this as the first time players can play as Chaos Space Marines in PvE; it is not the first appearance of Chaos or Siege in Space Marine 2. When did it launch, and what does it cost?
Chaos Siege launched October 1, 2026, with Patch 15 / Anniversary Update II. The publisher calls it a free update for Space Marine 2 on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC. Existing owners do not need to buy separate Chaos Siege DLC. The update does not include the base game, so players who do not own it will need the game itself; the mode’s free status is not a standalone purchase offer.
How is Chaos Siege different from Crucible?
Both arrived in Patch 15, but they serve different purposes. Chaos Siege is centered on playing as Heretic Astartes in Siege. Crucible is a separate endgame PvE activity launched through Operations, with class-level access, challenge modifiers, and progression rewards.

Crucible’s access and reward details are in the final Patch 15.0 notes; the September preview described Penances as class-specific progression, but the launch notes are the better guide to the released activity.
What else is in Anniversary Update II?
The free update also reworks the Tactical class, adds Heroic weapon and armor variants, and introduces a one-handed Thunder Hammer for Tactical, Assault, Bulwark, and Techmarine. These gameplay and equipment additions are separate from the cosmetic DLC packs listed for Season Pass 3 holders.
Season Pass 3 holders receive the Space Wolves Champion Pack and Exorcists Cosmetic Pack. The publisher’s October 1 announcement distinguishes those packs from the free update content.

Focus Entertainment lists PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC for the update. The announcement does not name a specific PC storefront, so check the platform where you own the game for the applicable update.
