When did Monster Hunter Wilds come out?
Capcom announced on September 25, 2024, that Monster Hunter Wilds would release on February 28, 2025. The company confirmed that date in its March 31, 2025 sales announcement. Capcom’s release-date announcement and its later sales update are the primary sources.

What platforms is Monster Hunter Wilds on?
The original February 2025 launch was for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Capcom described the game as a hunting-action title set in a dynamically changing wilderness, and said cross-play would let players join one another regardless of platform. It was the first game in the series to support cross-play.
Is Monster Hunter Wilds coming to Switch 2?
Yes. Capcom has scheduled a Nintendo Switch 2 version for December 4, 2026. That is a later platform release, not a change to the original February 28, 2025 launch date. The Switch 2 date is still in the future as of October 8, 2026. Capcom’s Switch 2 announcement has the details.

Hunters can look forward to tracking down monsters with an array of new moves, special abilities, equipment, and more. The action also now flows seamlessly from cutscenes to gameplay, resulting in a new level of immersion.
What editions are available?
Edition names depend on storefront, region, and when the listing was published. The US PlayStation Store currently lists digital Standard and Gold editions, along with cosmetic DLC and add-ons. How successful was the launch?
Capcom reported that worldwide sales surpassed 10 million units by March 31, 2025, calling it a company record for first-month sales. That is Capcom’s reported milestone, not an independently audited count. The company also reported more than 8 million units sold in the first three days in a March 4, 2025 release, describing it as the fastest a Capcom title had reached that mark. Capcom’s three-day sales announcement provides that figure.

Capcom announced Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance as a paid expansion planned for 2027. The announcement mentions new quest ranks, locales, additional monsters, and expanded weapon actions, but does not give a specific release day or price. See Capcom’s expansion announcement.
