That is a planned token allocation, not proof of a fund’s current cash value or of money already delivered to environmental projects. The project’s claim that it would be “one of the largest” was not backed by a published comparison with other funds.
What My Lovely Planet announced
A May 15, 2023 announcement, reported by Bitcoinist, tied the mobile game to environmental work and described allocating 400 million MLC to an environmental fund. The announcement characterized that amount as 40% of a stated total supply of one billion MLC.
The same report said €750,000 worth of MLC had been sold by the announcement date and that the project aimed to raise a further €2 million. These are historical fundraising claims relayed from the project, not a current treasury valuation or a record of environmental grants.
Does “one of the largest” hold up?
The phrase was an aspiration, not a demonstrated ranking. Establishing a comparative claim would require a defined group of funds and comparable figures—for example, current assets, the portion liquid or committed, and grants actually delivered. The announcement does not provide those comparisons.

Three different measures should not be conflated:
- Allocated tokens: the 2023 announcement’s stated plan to set aside 400 million MLC.
- Current treasury value: the market value of assets held now, which can change and is not established by the token allocation.
- Environmental funding delivered: verified amounts paid to projects, for which the sources reviewed provide no independent total.
My Lovely Planet’s current website describes an Environmental Treasury and voting by MLC holders, but the available material does not independently establish treasury balances or payouts. A token allocation alone does not show that tokens were sold, converted to cash, or spent.
How the game and blockchain are connected
Game play and environmental actions
The 2023 report described a free-to-play mobile game connecting in-game actions with real-world environmental work, alongside a portion of company revenue donated to NGOs. It named Eden Reforestation for reforestation and forest protection, Sea Shepherd France for ocean protection, SPA for animal protection, Plastic Bank for ocean cleanup, and Un toit pour les abeilles for beehive funding. Those organizations were named in that 2023 report; it does not establish that every relationship remains active.

In a July 2025 release, the company said completing 100 puzzle levels corresponded to one real-world tree planted. The release attributed more than 380,000 trees planted to its work with NGO partners, including Graine de Vie in Madagascar. These are company-reported figures and mechanics, not independently audited impact results.
MLC, voting, and in-game conversion
The current platform terms describe MLC as a utility token recorded on Polygon. They say users cannot purchase MLC directly through the app; users may obtain it through exchanges or convert in-game Diamonds after purchasing and staking an amount of MLC shown in the app. The terms also say users retain their wallet private keys rather than the company.

The company’s July 2025 release said MLC holders could vote on environmental investments such as reforestation, carbon credits, and clean-energy initiatives. It also cited a $100 MLC stake threshold to unlock conversion of Diamonds into MLC. That threshold and the described governance and app mechanics are dated company statements; they may change.

What to check before treating the fund as established impact
- Look for a dated treasury balance and the assets it includes, rather than inferring value from the number of allocated tokens.
- Distinguish committed funds from completed payments, and seek project-level records showing amounts and recipients.
- Check whether the named NGO partnerships and game mechanics are still active; the cited partner list dates to 2023 and the mechanics to 2025.
- Compare impact figures only when their dates, definitions, and verification methods are clear.
