Naughty Dog has confirmed that another game is being worked on, but it has not revealed the project’s name or identity. In 2025, studio head Neil Druckmann said he was mentoring and giving feedback to another team in a producer-level role. A September 2026 update named two very early-stage projects expanding The Last of Us canon, but did not say whether either is the game he described.
What Naughty Dog has confirmed
On the Press X To Continue podcast, Druckmann said: “There is another game at Naughty Dog being worked on, and I am more of a producer role and get to mentor and watch this other team, give feedback, and be like the executive in the room.” Insider Gaming published the quotation on May 19, 2025. The podcast video itself was not accessible to the report, so the quotation is attributed here to Druckmann as quoted by Insider Gaming.
That statement confirms the existence of another project and describes Druckmann’s role. It does not identify the game, its genre, platform, or release window.
How it relates to Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet
Naughty Dog officially announced Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet on December 12, 2024, describing it as the studio’s next game in development for PlayStation 5. The announcement follows bounty hunter Jordan A. Mun, stranded on Sempiria. It is a separately announced project; Naughty Dog has not identified it as the unnamed game Druckmann discussed. What the September 2026 update adds—and what it does not
In a post dated September 28, 2026, Druckmann said Naughty Dog had “a couple of very exciting new projects in very early stages” and that both “will expand the canon of The Last of Us beyond Part I and Part II.” The post does not name the projects or connect either one to the additional game mentioned in 2025. It therefore confirms new early-stage The Last of Us work, not the identity of the secret game. Read the official update.
Are The Last of Us Part III or a new Uncharted confirmed?
No. Neither proposed identity is confirmed by Naughty Dog.

Fans may read Druckmann’s September reference to “the road ahead” as a tease, but the post does not identify the earlier unnamed game. Treating that interpretation as confirmation goes beyond what Naughty Dog said.

- Whether it is one of the two early-stage The Last of Us projects announced in September 2026
The March 2025 report also attributed claims about a three-year development period and director Shaun Escayg to DanielRPK; neither detail has been confirmed by Naughty Dog.
