Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is a science-fiction adventure and what Naughty Dog calls a brand-new franchise. Studio head Neil Druckmann announced it on December 12, 2024, saying it was in development for PS5 and that the studio had been working on it since 2020. What is Intergalactic about?
The game follows Jordan A. Mun, a bounty hunter who becomes stranded on Sempiria, a distant planet whose communication with the wider universe went dark hundreds of years ago. Naughty Dog says people who previously traveled there to investigate its past were never heard from again. Jordan hopes to become the first person in over 600 years to leave the planet’s orbit; that figure is fictional lore from the game’s announcement.
Tati Gabrielle plays Jordan. The score is by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. Naughty Dog has described its intended story as emotional and character-driven and said it aims for its deepest gameplay to date. Those are the studio’s stated ambitions, not details confirmed through released gameplay. It has kept further story information under wraps.

Is Intergalactic a sequel to The Last of Us?
No sequel or spin-off has been announced. Naughty Dog presents Intergalactic as a new franchise with a space-set premise, rather than identifying it as part of The Last of Us. That establishes how the studio is positioning the game; it does not settle speculation about possible unannounced connections. The announcement also does not provide enough gameplay detail to make a reliable comparison between how the two games play.
When will Naughty Dog show more, and when could it release?
On September 28, 2026, Druckmann said Naughty Dog would remain quiet about Intergalactic for the rest of that year, then fully reveal it in 2027. In his September 28, 2026 studio update, he said the studio would “give you a proper look at Jordan’s wild sci-fi adventure” in 2027. This is a planned reveal, not a confirmed launch window or release date; the studio has not announced when the game will launch.

What platform is Intergalactic coming to?
Naughty Dog’s announcement names PlayStation 5 as the game’s development platform. The cited announcements do not confirm other platforms, editions, a price, or a release date. Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is still in development, so the announcement is not an indication that the game is available to buy.
