Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is Naughty Dog’s new science-fiction adventure, announced for PlayStation 5. The game stars bounty hunter Jordan A. Mun, stranded on the isolated planet Sempiria. Naughty Dog’s latest update, on September 28, 2026, says the studio will stay quiet about the game for the rest of 2026 and fully reveal it in 2027.
What is Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet?
Announced on December 12, 2024, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is a new franchise in development at Naughty Dog for PlayStation 5. Studio head Neil Druckmann said work on the adventure began in 2020. The announcement introduced the project and its premise, but it was not a detailed gameplay demonstration. Naughty Dog’s announcement contains the studio’s initial description and trailer.
What is the story about?
The announced story follows Jordan A. Mun, a bounty hunter stranded on Sempiria, a distant planet cut off from communication with the rest of the universe hundreds of years ago. People who traveled there to investigate its past were never heard from again. Naughty Dog says Jordan may become the first person in more than 600 years to leave the planet’s orbit; that time span is part of the fictional premise.
The studio has kept further plot details under wraps. Druckmann described the game as an emotional, character-driven journey, but the announcement does not establish more specific story beats or how Jordan’s attempt to escape will unfold.

Has Naughty Dog shown gameplay?
The announcement trailer introduced the setting and character, but Naughty Dog has not provided a full gameplay look in the sources available. Druckmann said the studio was aiming for “the deepest gameplay in Naughty Dog’s history,” drawing on lessons from its earlier franchises. That is the studio’s stated ambition, not a verified description of demonstrated mechanics or a measured comparison.
When will Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet be revealed or released?
In an official update dated September 28, 2026, Druckmann said Naughty Dog would remain quiet about the game for the rest of 2026 and fully reveal it in 2027. He wrote: “In 2027, that changes. We’ll fully reveal Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet and give you a proper look at Jordan’s wild sci-fi adventure.” The update is part of Druckmann’s September 2026 message.
