How do the world map and relationships work?
On the world map, players can take on missions such as suppressing rebellions or rescuing government forces, fight skirmishes, and visit locations to buy weapons. The announcement also says that characters such as Cao Cao and Liu Bei may become travelling companions or enemies depending on the bond the player forms with them. It does not specify the full range of choices or how each relationship changes the campaign.
How does combat combine individual fighting and battlefield command?
Weapon attacks, Bravery, and Arts
Koei Tecmo framed the combat as “1 vs. 1,000.” That is the publisher’s description of the intended scale, not a measured player-count statistic. The announcement says players alternate swift and powerful attacks that can break an opponent’s guard. Repeated attacks build Bravery, which can be spent on Arts unique to each weapon. Mastering weapons raises the protagonist’s Rank and improves skills.

Mastering weapons helps the protagonist reach a new Rank and increase his abilities. Use horses for travel and, for certain battlefields, choose a Companion to fight alongside you. You can switch to a Companion during battle for a limited time, so choose the right moment to control them and unleash their powers.

Tactics and Large Forces
Players can coordinate allies with Tactics. As soldiers gather, they can form a Large Force and use Grand Tactics—maneuvers the publisher says can dramatically change a battle. Enemy forces can also form Large Forces and deploy their own Grand Tactics, so commanding the battlefield is not limited to the player. The announcement presents this as a command layer alongside direct action combat, not as a full strategy simulation.
Blocking, dodging, and Assaults
A block timed correctly can parry an attack and open an enemy’s defense. Unblockable attacks must be dodged before the player can counter. Against certain powerful officers, players must first reduce a protective energy called “Resolution” before launching an “Assault.”
