DC has said gaming is part of its long-term plan for the new shared universe, and a 2025 report said DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran discussed characters and stories with Rocksteady and NetherRealm. But no specific DCU game has been announced: its title, developer, genre, platforms and release date remain unconfirmed.
What has been reported about a DCU game?
DC’s public strategy for its shared universe includes games alongside film and television. That signals a broader creative ambition, not confirmation that a particular game is in production.
In 2025, Video Games Chronicle reported that Gunn and Safran had sat down with leaders at Warner Bros. game studios Rocksteady and NetherRealm to discuss characters and stories they were interested in developing. The report did not say that either studio had been assigned a game.
GamesRadar+ reported on October 7, 2026, that DC Studios’ long-term creative plan spans film, TV, animation and gaming. That is further evidence of the broad commitment, but it still does not identify a project.

What is not confirmed?
The available reporting does not establish a game title, genre, featured characters, developer, platforms, price or release window. Conversations about possible stories are not the same as a formal announcement or a confirmed studio assignment.
Nor does the information establish that an existing Batman: Arkham or Injustice game is canon to the new DCU. Those are separate existing franchises; rumors or reports about other Batman, Superman or DC projects should not be treated as confirmation of this unnamed game.

Does “a couple of years” mean a release date?
No. VGC’s 2025 report attributed to Gunn an estimate that the first DCU game was at least “a couple of years” away from being revealed. That was a reported estimate about a reveal, not a verified release schedule. It is not a current launch promise, and a reveal date would not by itself establish when a game would ship.

For now, the accurate takeaway is that DC has included gaming in its long-range creative vision and that discussions with Rocksteady and NetherRealm were reported. Until DC or a studio names a project, claims about its identity, continuity or timing remain unconfirmed. Existing DC games can be enjoyed on their own merits, but they should not be presented as the new DCU game.
