Hints for Connections #1018
These clues move from broad nudges to the category ideas. The full groups are below.

- Green: Publications, like Reader’s Digest.
- Blue: Ways someone might pay.
- Purple: Volume measurements with a final-letter change.
Answers for Wednesday, March 25
The four categories and their words are:
- Yellow — OBFUSCATE: BLUR, CLOUD, MUDDY, OBSCURE.
- Green — MAGAZINES: FORTUNE, PEOPLE, SPIN, TIME.
- Blue — PAYMENT METHODS: CASH, CHARGE, CHECK, WIRE.
- Purple — UNITS OF VOLUME WITH LAST LETTER CHANGED: CUR, GALLOP, PING, QUARK.
How the purple group works
Each entry resembles a volume unit after its final letter is changed: CUR points to CUP, GALLOP to GALLON, PING to PINT, and QUARK to QUART. The trick is to restore the intended unit by changing the last letter.

Word-list spelling note
GALLOP is the corroborated spelling for the purple-group entry. ComingSoon prints GALLOR in its word list and category answer, apparently a typo; Parade, TechRadar, and GameDaily give GALLOP.
