Hints for Connections game #603

These clues move from oblique to more direct. Stop when you have enough to keep solving.

  • Yellow: Roast.
  • Green: A teeny portion.
  • Blue: Citrus finish.
  • Purple: Mess up.

For a more direct nudge, think “jibe reactions,” “titchy,” “lemon and lemon,” and “it’s all gone wrong.”

Spoiler warning: categories and answers

The complete board has 16 words: SNAP, SCREW, BURN, ZEST, LOUSE, WEDGE, ZING, MITE, SLICE, MUCK, BIT, OUCH, LITTLE, TWIST, FOUL, and TAD.

Yellow — Comment after an insult

BURN, OUCH, SNAP, ZING

Green — Tiny amount, with “a”

BIT, LITTLE, MITE, TAD

Blue — Bit of citrus garnish

SLICE, TWIST, WEDGE, ZEST

Purple — Bungle, with “up”

FOUL, LOUSE, MUCK, SCREW

How the tricky overlaps resolve

Several words invite plausible groupings that do not match the intended categories. SCREW, TWIST, and WEDGE can look like a set, while MITE and LOUSE can suggest bugs. The groups instead rely on the phrases “a bit,” “a little,” “a mite,” and “a tad,” leaving the citrus terms and the verbs that pair with “up” to complete the board. TechRadar writer Johnny Dee described considering the SCREW/TWIST/WEDGE connection before spotting the tiny-amount group; that is one reported solving path, not a rule for how everyone encounters the puzzle.

Why some readers see a different date

Three answer recaps identify this board as game #603 for Monday, February 3, 2025. A TechRadar page published February 2 labels it with the following Monday’s date, while Mashable’s Yahoo Entertainment page is dated February 3. Yahoo’s following-day recap explains that a new puzzle appears at midnight in each time zone, so the day a reader calls “today” can depend on location.

How Connections works

Connections asks players to sort 16 words into four groups of four based on a shared connection. The board can be rearranged, and players have up to four mistakes before the game ends. Mashable describes the groups as color-coded by difficulty, with yellow easiest and purple hardest; the hints above follow those colors.
