Yes. Of Ash and Steel is available on PC: its Steam release date was November 24, 2025, and the official website labels the game “OUT NOW.” It is a single-player, third-person open-world fantasy RPG from Fire & Frost and publisher tinyBuild. The central question for prospective players is whether they want an RPG that expects them to find their own way: quests have no marker system, and combat relies on timing and stamina management.
What kind of RPG is Of Ash and Steel?
The game is a single-player, third-person fantasy RPG set in an open world. Its design emphasizes exploration, character development and combat practice rather than steering players through a sequence of map objectives.
Fire & Frost and tinyBuild advertise a main story of more than 45 hours, two major factions with distinct storylines and rewards, side quests, crafting, and professions that include fishing, hunting, blacksmithing and alchemy. The 45-plus-hour figure is the publisher’s advertised duration, not an independently measured playtime.
Does Of Ash and Steel have quest markers?
No. The Steam store description says, “Of Ash and Steel has no marker system, and quests won’t lead you by the hand.” Players are expected to listen to NPCs, read quest text and in-world books or notes, then mark locations on the map themselves.

This makes exploration more self-directed than in an RPG that supplies objective markers. If you prefer explicit waypoint guidance, that design may take patience; if you enjoy piecing together directions from dialogue and written clues, it is a central part of the intended experience.
How does combat work?
Combat is built around stamina, attack and parry timing, combat stances and different weapon types. The official description presents it as a system to learn and practice, rather than a straightforward power fantasy from the beginning. Expect to pay attention to timing and resource management as you develop your character.

Of Ash and Steel PC system requirements
The Steam listing specifies 64-bit Windows 10 or 11, DirectX 12, an SSD and 45 GB of available storage. It lists 16 GB of RAM for both minimum and recommended configurations.

Fire & Frost’s version 1.08 notes report memory optimization, an installed size about 10 GB smaller, menu loading roughly twice as fast and RAM use cut by almost half. Those are developer-reported results, not independent benchmarks or a guarantee of performance on every PC. The notes also describe fixes for memory-related crashes and gamepad-specific issues; they document changes in that version, not proof that every bug or performance concern is resolved.
Languages, audio and content
Steam lists eight interface languages. English and Russian have full audio. French, German, Spanish (Spain), Japanese, Polish and Simplified Chinese are listed for interface and subtitles, without full audio.

The store’s content note mentions realistic medieval violence, crime, profanity and alcohol. Players who are sensitive to those themes should review the listing’s content information before playing.

Use the game’s design and your setup as the deciding factors. It is a stronger fit if you want an open-world RPG with unmarked quests, time-sensitive combat and long-form systems such as crafting and professions. Before buying, compare your PC with the Steam requirements and check that the listed audio languages and content suit you. The developer’s patch notes mention gamepad fixes, but do not certify a particular controller model; a gamepad is an optional setup choice, not a stated requirement.
