Obsidian released Grounded 2 Patch 0.1.2 for all players on August 6, 2025. The update grouped quality-of-life changes with fixes for stability, multiplayer, progression, building, buggies, The Park, combat, and the interface. It is a historical update: Obsidian announced Patch 0.1.3 on August 25, 2025.

What the 0.1.2 performance estimate means

Obsidian described the patch as bringing major stability improvements and estimated a 40%–60% improvement compared with version 0.1.1.3. That figure is the developer’s estimate, not an independently measured benchmark or a guarantee for every system. Obsidian also cautioned that the patch was not expected to fix performance problems as a whole, and said optimization work would continue throughout development. Progression, saves, and multiplayer

World and tutorial fixes

The notes address an ORC Bee positioned above the skybox and ORC creatures that failed to return to their intended locations after being pulled away. The location correction for the missing ORC creature was not retroactive to existing save files. Obsidian said players were not softlocked and advised going to the place where they had last died to find it.

Another fix addressed a tutorial progression blocker that could occur after players defeated the tutorial mites, then saved and loaded. The update also included other world and multiplayer corrections.

Shared Worlds and multiplayer

Obsidian fixed a crash that could occur in Shared Worlds after prolonged play and a backend issue that could cause Shared World saves to be lost indefinitely. Multiplayer changes included improvements to desynchronization and a fix for clients joining with improved stats.

Quality-of-life changes and interface fixes

Player-requested conveniences

  • Acorn tops became guaranteed drops.
  • Steam players received a flow for accessing crossplay.
  • Character icons were updated in the HUD and map.
  • Unusable “explore” and “go to entry” prompts were removed.
  • Players can hot-deposit a haulable on a buggy.
  • Wolf spider fur received polish.

UI and readability

The UI/UX fixes included finalized fertilizer-description text, tutorial tooltips that reflect custom bindings, removal of a nonfunctional Handy Gnat prompt, corrected crafting previews, and a fix for a UI background texture issue. The notes also cover black backdrops on 3D models, accurate Summoning Wheel and Buggy status indicators, improved text scaling, and a Human Food buff icon.

Other interface changes addressed map-location messaging, crafting-menu input dead zones, a localized camera toggle, audiolog text being cut off, singleplayer prompt cleanup, and Comms Array image resolution.

Building, buggies, and Creative Mode

Building

Building changes improved restrictions on building on dirt piles, restored the S key in build mode, corrected naming, and enabled decoration blueprints to be placed on walls or furniture.

Buggies

Buggy fixes included allowing summons from greater distances and preventing the Red Ant Buggy from spawning as a hostile soldier ant. Obsidian also addressed a controller issue after mounting an Orb Weaver Buggy, along with buggy loss, terrain spawning, and save/load behavior.

The Park, combat, and other gameplay fixes

The Park and environment

The Park fixes addressed creature placement and behavior, terrain gaps, floating waypoints, shadow flicker, a death-related softlock, resource detection, and other location issues.

Combat and gameplay

Combat fixes included daggers incorrectly applying venom during regular attacks while the player wore Wolf Spider Armor, infinite Sick debuff stacking after drinking dirty water, thrown weapons getting stuck for clients, and a missing death timer after saving and loading. Obsidian also listed fixes for gameplay progression and environmental issues, plus audio, localization, art, and additional multiplayer changes.

How Patch 0.1.2 fits into the update timeline

Patch 0.1.2 is not the latest update documented in Obsidian’s official announcements: the studio announced Patch 0.1.3 on August 25, 2025. That later post estimated a 30% performance gain compared with version 0.1.2.1 and listed further stability, UI, login, progression, and gameplay fixes. The 30% figure belongs to that later patch and comparator; it should not be combined with the 0.1.2 estimate. Read Obsidian’s Patch 0.1.3 announcement.

If the update does not appear

Obsidian’s Patch 0.1.2 post suggested verifying the game files or restarting the console if the update was not showing up.
