Yes—the dbrand Killswitch render shown in December 2024 depicted the Switch 2, according to dbrand CEO Adam Ijaz. Nintendo later revealed the console on April 2, 2025, and its official specifications confirmed several visible features, while correcting the render-era estimate of an approximately 8-inch screen: the actual display is 7.9 inches.
What dbrand showed before Nintendo’s reveal
On December 14, 2024, Tom’s Hardware reported that dbrand had published a 3D render of its Killswitch carrying case fitted around a device presented as the next Nintendo console. The report said the company based the device’s dimensions on a 3D scan of actual hardware. The render arrived months before Nintendo’s official reveal.
A day earlier, Insider Gaming had asked dbrand CEO Adam Ijaz about the animation. Ijaz confirmed: “That is correct: it is the Switch 2 with our Killswitch case on it (similar in principle to our Killswitch for the Steam Deck, ROG Ally, and ROG Ally X).” That was Ijaz’s statement as reported by Insider Gaming—not an authentication from Nintendo.
At the time, reporting around the render described an approximately 8-inch display, magnetic Joy-Con, an extra button on the right controller, and other physical details. How the render compares with Nintendo’s confirmed design
Nintendo announced the Switch 2 on April 2, 2025, and said it would release on June 5, 2025. Its official product information confirms the key design points that were visible or reported around the dbrand render, with a more precise screen measurement.

A separate accessory rumor was not the dbrand render
Another report appeared on December 12, 2024, concerning alleged press images shared by Cambodian retailer Vortex Video Game Vault. Nintendo Wire described those images as relating to a silicone cover from an unnamed accessory manufacturer and cautioned readers to treat the claim as rumor. This was separate from dbrand’s Killswitch render and Ijaz’s confirmation. Nintendo Wire’s report explains that distinct claim.
What the leak does—and does not—establish
In retrospect, the dbrand image was an early look at the Switch 2’s broad physical design: Nintendo later confirmed the large display, magnetic controllers, right-controller C Button, adjustable stand, and top USB-C port. The screen-size difference is a useful reminder that the pre-reveal description was approximate; Nintendo’s official specification is 7.9 inches.

The render was not a Nintendo announcement, and the contemporary claims should not be treated as official simply because several features later matched the released design. The strongest attribution is specific: dbrand’s CEO said the device in the render was Switch 2, and Nintendo subsequently published its own product details.
