It was a limited, unfinished test for players in North America and China—not a new or currently open signup. The game later launched on March 12, 2025, though SteamDB subsequently reported that its Steam app was retired at the publisher’s request.
When did the OUTLAWED Steam playtest start?
GamesBeat reported on February 10, 2025, that the technical playtest would start at 4 p.m. Pacific on February 13, 2025. Players were directed to Steam Playtest, where the store page’s “Request Access” button offered a chance to join. That instruction applied to the historical test, not a current registration window. GamesBeat’s report and Okami Studio’s Steam announcement archive provide the announcement details.
There is a date discrepancy in the Steam announcement archive: its search-result text refers to February 13, 2024, despite the page being dated February 7 and discussing the 2025 test. GamesBeat explicitly gives February 13, 2025, so that is the date used here.
Who could join, and what should testers expect?
GamesBeat reported that access was limited to North America and China, with 5,000 slots in each region. The test was described as unfinished, with bugs and incomplete features expected. Those capacity and eligibility details describe the announced 2025 playtest; they do not establish that access is available now.

What kind of game is OUTLAWED?
Okami Studio developed and published OUTLAWED as a crime-themed first-person extraction shooter. In the playtest description reported by GamesBeat, squads of three entered a large urban map, fought rival players and gangs, scavenged for loot, and tried to evacuate. The description also listed customizable skins, boss fights, vehicles and vehicle evacuations, more than 30 weapon types, tactical gear, and a 10-square-kilometer cityscape. These are announced game details, not independently measured map or content figures.
The released Steam listing described PvE or PvPvE modes and listed single-player, online PvP, and online co-op features. Playtest descriptions and released-game listing details are distinct: the test’s announced features should not be treated as a complete specification of the later release. Steam’s OUTLAWED listing contains the release-facing description.

When did OUTLAWED launch?
Okami Studio’s Steam announcements and the Steam store page give March 12, 2025, as the release date. SteamDB records a release timestamp of 00:02 UTC on March 13; that timestamp appears consistent with time-zone handling rather than a separate launch date. For the general release date, the store-facing March 12 date is the clearest reference. SteamDB’s app record includes the timestamp and app status.

SteamDB reports that the app was retired at the publisher’s request and is no longer available on the Steam store. Store availability can change, so check the live Steam listing for its current status rather than relying on an older playtest announcement. The listing captured in the available source material showed a $14.99 price and a demo, but those details may change and should not be taken as current buying information.
