For the most reliable crate hunt in Once Human, start with the in-game World Map: select a settlement to see its details, then use Spacetime to locate nearby Mysterious Treasures, Weapon Crates and Gear Crates. A third-party interactive map is useful for category filters, marker details and progress tracking, but its pins should be checked against the live game.

How to find crates with the in-game map

  1. Open the World Map and select a settlement. The official Settlement Exploration Guide says the settlement view shows its name, recommended level, objectives, resources and other details.
  2. Use Spacetime near the settlement. The guide says Spacetime helps identify nearby Mysterious Treasures, Weapon Crates and Gear Crates.
  3. Explore and verify each location in the world. The map and Spacetime help narrow the search; confirm that a marker corresponds to a crate in your current game.

What the different crate names mean

The official guide distinguishes ordinary settlement loot from a one-time collectible. It says each settlement has multiple Weapon and Gear Crates, but only one Mysterious Treasure, obtainable once and containing Blueprint Fragments for weapons or armor. Community maps may label that special collectible a “Mystical Crate” or use other chest terminology. Match the label on the map to the in-game collectible rather than assuming every use of “crate,” “chest” or “treasure” means the same thing.

Using a third-party interactive map

  1. Choose the map for your scenario or region. Map indexes can separate locations and scenarios; available categories and coverage differ by site.
  2. Filter for the marker you need. Look for Weapon Crates, Gear Crates, Mysterious or Mystical Crates, or the map’s equivalent category. Some map indexes also group enemies, NPCs and other points of interest.
  3. Search for a location and open its marker. Depending on the map, marker details may include a tip, image or video.
  4. Use progress tracking only if the map offers it. DaOpa describes making a marker semi-transparent as a progress cue. That behavior is a feature of that map, not a standard shared by all interactive maps.
  5. Check the pin in-game. A third-party marker database can lag game changes, and the published inventories are not a guarantee that every pin matches the current live build.

What published map counts do—and do not—tell you

The Once Human interactive map at oncehuman.th.gl reported 305 known Mystical Crate locations across five maps on a guide page last updated October 6, 2026. That is the publisher’s count, not an independently verified in-game total or a guarantee for every scenario or build.

The same map index displays database totals by map grouping. These are site-reported location counts, not audited totals of collectible crates:

Map grouping Displayed locations
Manibus & Evolution’s Call 39,290
Prismverse’s Clash 9,141
The Way of Winter 14,196
Raids & Dungeons 7,735

Map features are not uniform: a category filter, searchable pins, media in marker details and a progress cue may be available on one site but absent on another. Treat counts and pins as navigation aids, not proof that a location is present in your current game.

Which approach should you use?

Need Best starting point What to keep in mind
Nearby settlement crates and official settlement details World Map and Spacetime The official guide documents settlement information and nearby crate discovery.
Filtering or searching a broader set of map markers Third-party interactive map Categories, scenario coverage and search features vary by map.
Understanding how to reach a particular pin A map with marker tips, images or videos Media and directions depend on the individual marker and map.
Keeping track of visited pins A map with a progress feature Some maps offer visual cues; do not assume tracking is shared or synced with the game.
