Omeda Studios’ Predecessor passed a reported milestone of more than 2 million players in March 2025, when the studio launched update V1.4. That is a historical total, not a live player count: the sources do not define it as active or concurrent players. Omeda later announced that the game had passed 2.5 million players by September 2025.
What the two-million milestone means
GamesBeat reported on March 7, 2025, that Omeda Studios had announced Predecessor had crossed two million players alongside the V1.4 launch. The announcement does not establish how Omeda counted players or whether the total refers to unique accounts, active users, or another measure, so it should not be read as a concurrent-player figure. GamesBeat’s March 7 report covered the milestone.

A later company announcement reported more than 2.5 million players by September 2, 2025, within the first year after the game’s August 2024 release. That figure also lacks a stated methodology and is not identified as active or concurrent players. Omeda’s announcement provides the later milestone.
What Predecessor V1.4 added
Omeda published V1.4 patch notes on March 6, 2025, with the update scheduled to arrive March 11. The release combined new content with gameplay, social and match-customization changes. Omeda’s V1.4 patch notes list the complete changes.

Boris and Shadow Ops
The update introduced Boris, a cybernetically enhanced bear. His ultimate, Ursine Burst, sends him dashing forward to grab an enemy hero and slam them down, creating an area shockwave.
V1.4 also launched the Shadow Ops story and a 50-level battle pass. The pass was time-limited: Omeda said it would be available from the March 11 update until May 27, 2025. That seasonal content window has passed; the patch notes do not establish that the pass remains obtainable.

Loot, hero adjustments and balance
V1.4 added Loot Cores and Opals, alongside hero kit adjustments, balance changes and fixes. The patch notes cover these changes in detail; the announcement does not make them a measure of player activity or retention.
Discord-integrated voice chat
Omeda’s patch notes state, “We’ve partnered with Discord to deliver Voice Chat in Predecessor.” The notes say players can enable voice chat from the social screen. The documented setting is an in-game option; the notes do not say that a headset is required. If you choose to use a headset, check that its connection and microphone work with your platform.

Smaller custom matches and ranked changes
V1.4 expanded custom matches beyond the default 5v5 format. Players could create 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4 matches. The release also included ranked-mode toxicity improvements.
What kind of game is Predecessor?
Omeda describes Predecessor as a free-to-play, third-person MOBA for PC and console. Its game site links to Steam, PlayStation, Epic and Xbox. For Japan, Omeda’s September 2025 announcement listed PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Windows through Steam and Epic. Availability can vary by region and platform; check the official Predecessor site for current platform links.

V1.4 is a historical update, not the current version
V1.4 was a March 2025 release. Omeda’s current site lists later updates, including V1.16 and V1.17 in October 2026 search results, so V1.4 should be understood as a snapshot of the game at that point rather than its latest state. For subsequent development, Omeda’s December 2025 development diary describes the studio’s own perspective and stated 2026 priorities.
