Smoke Hole Boot Tomb is inside Smoke Hole Cave, not a separate surface location. In Oblivion Remastered, look for its entrance behind a door in the cave’s western section. The Smoke Tomb Outer Key opens a Very Hard door on the route toward Smoke Hole Brass Tomb; the Inner Key is not needed for a different door the guide describes as already unlocked.
Where to find Smoke Hole Boot Tomb
Enter Smoke Hole Cave and explore its western section for the door into Boot Tomb. The Remastered walkthrough describes the tomb as a connected dungeon of chambers and tunnels, with undead, animals and chests. Its route eventually drops back into the entrance chamber. The guide does not provide exact world-map coordinates, so use the cave’s western side rather than relying on an unverified map marker. Remastered walkthrough
Reference indexes list Smoke Hole Cave, Smoke Hole Boot Tomb and Smoke Hole Brass Tomb as distinct named locations; the Neoseeker index maps Boot Tomb to the cell identifier SmokeHoleCave03. That identifier is a game reference, not an in-game direction. Neoseeker location index
What the two keys open
| Item | What the reference guide says |
|---|---|
| Smoke Tomb Outer Key | Opens a Very Hard wooden door on the route to Smoke Hole Brass Tomb. PC reference guide |
| Smoke Tomb Inner Key | The guide lists it in a heavy chest, but says the separate wooden door it discusses is already unlocked, so this key is unnecessary for that door. PC reference guide |
The guide also lists a Very Hard chest containing Master Zoaraym’s Tale. The keys and chest details come from a third-party Oblivion Remastered PC reference guide; the available sources do not establish that their placement is identical in the original game. PC reference guide

Is there a switch-operated secret area?
A 2006 AnandTech forum post by user yhelothar describes searching the cave for a perceived secret place that seemed to require a switch, and mentions finding references to two keys. That post records the player’s confusion; it does not confirm that a remote switch or hidden-wall mechanism exists. A reply suggests the console command tcl, but that is an anecdotal workaround, not verified intended gameplay guidance. AnandTech discussion, September 27, 2006
If you are stuck, distinguish the Boot Tomb entrance from the Very Hard door on the Brass Tomb route. The Remastered walkthrough places the entrance on the cave’s western side, while the reference guide associates the Outer Key with the Very Hard door. Do not assume that the Inner Key opens every locked-looking door in the complex.

Which version do these directions cover?
The detailed route and item information cited here concern Oblivion Remastered. Older location references also list Smoke Hole Boot Tomb, but the available sources do not provide a controlled comparison of the original game and Remastered. They therefore do not establish that routes, locks, enemies or loot placements are unchanged between editions. Remastered walkthrough PC reference guide Neoseeker location index
