The reported $50 holiday discount was on the Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle, not a confirmed discount on the standalone console. Amazon, Target and Best Buy were reported to offer the bundle for $449 instead of $499 in late December 2025; Tom’s Guide said Best Buy’s offer ended December 25, 2025. That promotion is over, and it should not be treated as an active deal in October 2026.
What the $50 Switch 2 deal covered
GameSpot and Tom’s Guide reported the discount on the Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle. The reported $449 sale price was $50 below the stated $499 bundle price. GameSpot valued buying the bundle contents separately at $530, though that figure is its comparison, not a current price quote.

The bundle paired Switch 2 hardware with a voucher for the digital edition of Mario Kart World. GameSpot listed the console components as Joy-Con 2 controllers, controller straps, a Joy-Con 2 grip, TV dock, HDMI cable, USB-C cable and 60W AC adapter. GameSpot’s December 22, 2025 deal report and Tom’s Guide’s deal report provide the contemporaneous details.
Is the Switch 2 $50 off now?
No current discount is established by those reports: they describe a late-December 2025 promotion, with Tom’s Guide listing December 25, 2025 as the Best Buy end date. They do not establish that the offer returned or that any retailer currently has the same price. Before buying, check the actual listing and checkout price, seller, stock and return terms.

- The next evolution of Nintendo Switch
- One system, three play modes: TV, Tabletop, and Handheld
- Larger, vivid, 7.9” LCD touch screen with support for HDR and up to 120 fps
- Dock that supports 4K when connected to a compatible TV*
- GameChat** lets you voice chat, share your game screen, and connect via video chat as you play
For context, Tom’s Guide reported in September 2026 that the standalone Switch 2 price had changed from $449 to $499. That is secondary reporting, not a price confirmed by the retrieved Nintendo product page. Treat it as a reported change rather than an authoritative current price, and verify with Nintendo or a retailer. Tom’s Guide reported the change; Nintendo’s Switch 2 product page is the official product reference.

The useful comparison is between a bundle and the standalone console, based on what you would actually buy now—not the expired holiday price.

- Larger, vivid, 7.9” LCD touch screen with support for HDR and up to 120 fps
- Supports up to 4K resolution** when using a compatible game and TV connected via the included Nintendo Switch 2 dock
- Nintendo Switch 2 plays compatible physical and digital Nintendo Switch games.***
- Check the contents. Confirm that the listing includes the Switch 2 hardware and a Mario Kart World digital voucher; do not assume a similarly named listing has identical contents.
- Compare checkout totals. Compare the bundle’s current price with the console and game prices offered separately. The 2025 reports’ $449, $499 and $530 figures describe that historical offer and comparison, not today’s market.
- Verify the seller and terms. Check who sells the item, whether it is in stock, and the return policy before placing an order.
- Decide whether you want the game. The bundle is most relevant if Mario Kart World is already on your list. If not, compare the standalone console price instead.
GameSpot also mentioned a Nintendo Switch 2 Wheel Set for Joy-Con 2 as an optional motion-control accessory for Mario Kart World, and microSD Express cards as a storage-expansion option. Neither was part of the reported bundle, and the Wheel Set was not described as required.
